The Senior Systems Engineer will help shape the future of Cytiva’s most advanced gloveless aseptic filling systems through technical excellence. This role leads machine-level systems engineering across architecture, requirements, integration, and verification—to advance new aseptic filling technologies and products, while supporting continuous improvement of industry-leading workcells such as the SA25 and Microcell. 

 

This role reports to the Engineering Manager, Aseptic Filling and is part of the engineering team located in Burnaby, BC and will be an on-site role.    

 

What you will do: 

  • Lead system architecture and hands-on technical design for new aseptic filling technologies—from concept through integration, V&V, and commercialization. 

  • Collaborate across organization to translate stakeholder needs into system requirements, design inputs, and verification strategies that support performance and product quality. 

  • Drive risk analysis, design reviews, testing and root cause analysis to identify issues early, resolve technical challenges, and guide sound design decisions. 

  • Provide systems engineering leadership across cross-functional teams—aligning technical decisions, coordinating activities, and driving execution for complex automation projects. 

 

Who you are: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Systems, Mechatronics, Electrical, Controls, or Mechanical Engineering—or equivalent. 

  • Experience developing complex automated or life sciences equipment, including hands-on design experience as a technical or project lead on cross-functional engineering efforts. 

  • Experience translating user and stakeholder needs into requirements, design inputs, system architecture, and subsystem interfaces—with clear traceability through V&V. 

  • Experience applying risk analysis methods such as FMEA to guide design decisions and verification strategy for automated equipment. 

  • Experience leading or contributing across the engineering lifecycle—from concept generation and evaluation through design, build, integration, test, and V&V—using lightweight, practical frameworks to guide sound technical decisions in a fast-paced environment. 

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in: 

  • Experience designing aseptic filling equipment, robotics systems, or machine vision systems.

The salary range for this role is $90,000 -$125,000. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future. 

 

This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
