Our team operates and continuously improves Hellmann’s CargoWise One (CW1) environment – a business-critical freight-forwarding platform used by thousands of Hellmann employees worldwide and connected seamlessly with partners and customers across air and ocean freight.
As Systems Engineer, you will play a key part in ensuring stable, scalable operations and driving the optimisation of our application infrastructure. You will join a motivated, globally distributed and multicultural team that collaborates across time zones with technical colleagues and IT departments around the world. • Microsoft Windows Server – application-hosting servers
• Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) – web / application hosting layer
• Microsoft SQL Server – hosted on AWS EC2
• Citrix DaaS (Desktop as a Service) – published-application delivery
• CargoWise One (CW1) – core freight-forwarding platform (Optional)
• Basic Amazon Web Services (AWS) operation
• XML / EDI integration interfaces

 

 

 

About the Job


  • Provide technical support for a business-critical corporate application (CargoWise One), acting as an escalation point for infrastructure incidents
  • Configure, maintain, patch and troubleshoot CargoWise One application hosted on the Microsoft Windows Server environments
  • Administer and troubleshoot Microsoft IIS – sites, application pools to keep the web/application layer healthy and performant
  • Maintain and monitor Microsoft SQL Server databases hosted on AWS EC2, including availability, backups and performance
  • Monitor our AWS infrastructure via Monitoring Tool (CheckMK)
  • Administer and troubleshoot Citrix DaaS published-application delivery for end users (Only for CargoWise One Application)
  • Diagnose and resolve complex, cross-layer incidents spanning the application, server, IIS, database and access components
  • Collaborate with cross-functional technical teams to implement business solutions
  • Collaborate with WiseTech Global as the upstream platform provider
  • Document technical procedures and operational processes, and maintain and improve knowledge-base articles
  • Participate in the on-call rotation (up to two weeks per quarter)

 

About You


Essential


  • Completed degree in Computer Science or Information Technology, or equivalent vocational training, with at least 1 year experience in system administration and/or application support.
  • Solid, hands-on Microsoft Windows Server administration
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server
  • Practical experience in IIS administration and troubleshooting (application pools, bindings, certificates, logs)
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with a structured, root-cause approach
  • Professional proficiency in English
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented mindset
  • Curiosity and eagerness to learn new technologies
  • Willingness to participate in on-call duties (up to two weeks per quarter)

Desirable


  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory Administration
  • Experience troubleshooting Citrix environment
  • Familiarity with core AWS services and infrastructure (EC2, S3, OpenSearch)
  • Understanding of XML / EDI integration interfaces
  • Prior experience with CargoWise One (CW1) or another business-critical logistics / ERP platform
  • Experience working in a multicultural or multilingual, globally distributed team
  • German or additional languages

Skills Required
