Senior Systems Administrator (Platform Services)

As the Senior Systems Administrator (Virtualization, Storage, and Data Protection), you will manage, build, plan, administer, and maintain Infrastructure Services like Systems, Servers, Containers, Storage, Data Center, and Infrastructure Applications to ensure Moneris has a robust, scalable, reliable and efficient Infrastructure on perm and cloud that supports its business.

You will provide support, in an automated way when possible, to Systems, Applications, Servers and Storage service offerings. You will lead platform and services currency, capacity planning, and the reporting of defined SLAs, and participate in projects, design, implementation, installation and configuration of Infrastructure Systems.

Location: You will be based in our Toronto office, balancing in-office collaboration with remote flexibility.

Reporting Relationship: You will report to the Manager of Systems Infrastructure.

Posting Type: Replacement Position.

Salary Range: The expected base salary range for this role is $99,121 - $134,522.

Total compensation may also include variable or discretionary incentive components, including but not limited to bonuses and commissions. Individual job offers are determined by various factors, including experience, education, skills, certifications, and other business needs.

Your Moneris Career - What you'll do 

• Work with peers in Infrastructure Architecture and IT Operations teams to plan, build, deploy, monitor, maintain and support on-premise virtualization infrastructure to deliver scalable, reliable and efficient platform to support Moneris business.

• Design, administer and maintain a Commvault environment with HSX clusters with complex Microsoft SQL Server workloads. 

• Design, administer and manage a Dell PowerProtect Data Manager (PPDM) with PowerProtect Data Domain with Cloud Tier for protection of VMware, K8s Containers and Microsoft SQL Server workloads. 

• Partner with peers in SYSADMINs, DBAs, Network Infrastructure Admins, Application Owners/Support/SREs along with Infrastructure/Enterprise Architecture, Information Security, Risk Management teams to participate in tabletop and planned tests to deliver on continuous improvement of disaster/cyber-recovery plans and capabilities. 

• Follow Moneris standards to respond to requests, incidents and submit and implement changes for daily operations of on-premise virtualization, storage and data protection infrastructure. 

• Contribute to development or updates to standards, processes and policies related to service delivery and technical capabilities. 

• Participate in on-call rotation with occasional travel to Moneris datacentres within the GTA as necessary for steady-state support or project activities. 

Your Moneris Career - What you bring 

• 5+ years/senior-level expertise in VMware vSphere design, deployment and operation of complex VMware vSphere environments (development through to mission-critical production) in a large and complex enterprise environment.  Exposure to other virtualization technology such as Nutanix AOS/AHV is an asset. 

• 5+ years/senior-level experience in managing FC SAN, storage (block/file) and data services including involvement in design, implementation and support of services backing mission-critical 24x7 environments. 

• 5+ years/senior-level in design and administration of backup and data protection operations with expertise in core concepts across a diverse set of data protection solutions/technologies and enterprise applications. 

• Expert-level knowledge in core vSphere technologies including: vCenter, ESXi, Aria Operations, Log Insight, PowerCLI, Host Profiles, Update Manager, HA/DRS, MPIO, VADP/VAIO-based solutions for backup and replication. 

• Solid understanding and experience with of FC SANs and Ethernet networks in complex enterprise environment. 

• Experience with Dell/EMC PowerMax (V4) enterprise and PowerStore mid-tier unified storage products including design, configuration, deployment, administration with emphasis on data services such as snapshots/replication and performance tuning and optimization. 

• Hands-on experience with development/customization of scripts and automation including Shell Scripting, PowerCLI (PowerShell) and/or Ansible Automation Platform. 

• Experience with supporting application SRE and other Operations teams running applications on virtualized Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), Microsoft Windows Server and Microsoft SQL Server infrastructure. 

• Understanding of core storage concepts (MPIO, snapshots, replication) with FC SAN (Dell/EMC Connectrix, PowerStore, PowerMax) and data protection concepts (Dell PowerProtect Data Manager) within a virtualized environment with servers, databases and container-based workloads. 

• Hands-on experience and knowledge related to operations of these technologies within on-premise datacenter environments. 

• Demonstrated ability to diagnose and troubleshoot complex deployments and leverage 3rd party tools such as Dynatrace as necessary to root cause to resolve configuration, performance, capacity or availability concerns. 

• Interest in passion in support for continuous improvement and helping to shape “what comes next” within the platform services team at Moneris.
