Summary

The System Test Engineer is a member of the Novanta R&D center in Brno, which provides a wide range of R&D services to Novanta's various business units.

For the current project, the System Test Engineer will partner with Software testers and the System and Software Design team to define test requirements, test specifications, and test environments and tools for integrated OR devices. Testing the system, software implementation, and executing tests throughout the product development life cycle are part of daily work.

Your Responsibilities

• Participate in the creation of engineering requirements and design specifications by providing the tester’s point of view to the System design engineers.
• Develop, design, and document formal system and software test requirements, plans, and procedures.
• Coordinate with other Senior testers, plus later mentor less experienced team members.
• Implement and execute system, software, and subsystem tests during the development life cycle.
• Record any non-compliance in the defect tracking database and collaborate with developers to reproduce and investigate issues.
• Research and evaluate suitable test tools and test methods.
• Together with the team, create and maintain automated test environments. Based on team needs, team members take full or partial responsibility.
• Make sure all the features, issues, and tests are documented in compliance with internal processes.
•  Proactively drive improvements in the testing team.
•  Plan, coordinate, and report on behalf of the agile team.

General Tasks

• Coordinate with System engineers on requirements and testing environment to ensure testing can execute efficiently.
• Drive the definition of system test strategies and execute testing per system requirements as needed during the product lifecycle.

Your Experience, Education and Skills

• Experience with system and/or software tests, verification processes, and methods.
• Deeper experience of system test design and implementation.
• Knowledge of software development lifecycle.
• Programming skills in at least one language are required (C# is highly desirable, C/C++ or Python are also possible with interest to code in C#).
• Good verbal and written English is required.
• Experience with embedded systems and hardware/software interaction is a plus.
• Experience with agile process or specifically Azure DevOps is a plus.
