As a Supplier Quality Engineer within Strategic Sourcing & Procurement, you will operate in a fast-paced and multidisciplinary development environment while supporting Development & Engineering projects.

The SQE maintains and develops the relation with the suppliers with the purpose to create an Industrial engineering collaboration between the suppliers and ASML. Using your personal skills, you will work closely together with the suppliers & ASML development teams to optimize the effectiveness and efficiency of the product generation process, in alignment with the ASML part project plan. The main goal of this cross-sector activity is to secure an excellent quality and timely delivery of parts by our suppliers.

Role and responsibilities

Within the Strategic Sourcing & Procurement organization, the SQE is primarily responsible for supplier quality activities from early supplier involvement through product and process maturity, ensuring readiness for volume release. Using your in-depth technical knowledge, analytic thinking, political antenna and excellent people skills, you work closely with suppliers to build up intimate knowledge of their IP and technological capabilities.

The main responsibilities are:

  • Coordinating role with respect to all SQE activities and deliverables (incl. other SQE colleagues) within the allocated project.

  • New product introduction (NPI) and supplier selection.

  • Early supplier involvement in development projects to ensure ASML and supplier technology expertise are effectively integrated.

  • Document project collaboration, including supplier and ASML responsibilities and roles via a Statement of Work (SoW).

  • Ensure that parts quality, manufacturability and serviceability aspects are covered in the design phase, including implementation of lessons learned.

  • Deliverables that secure parts quality from suppliers in the ASML product generation process, such as:

    • Acceptance of the specification and/or design

    • Complete & detailed parts qualification process

    • Acceptance of qualified parts

    • Process flow and Process failure mode effect analysis

    • First article inspection

    • Define and maintain supplier interface processes, such as: Issue resolution, Qualification deviation, Configuration & change management and ASML factory disturbances

    • Contribute to supplier development to improve operational excellence by driving execution of existing agreements, improvement actions, and participation in supplier audits.

The SQE is part of cross-functional development project teams and interfaces with project leaders, design engineers, architects, manufacturing and customer support engineers, logistics, procurement, and suppliers.

Education and experience

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in industrial engineering, optics, mechatronics, electronics or related field.

  • Broad (at least 3 -5 years, preferably >5 Minimum 5 years of experience with a Bachelor's degree or 3 years with a Masters degree.

  • Experience in high-tech industry, and complex modules, with a focus on industrial engineering, supplier quality management or part quality or project management in engineering. We encourage candidates with experience with Quality systems and – methods to apply for this vacancy (preferably Six Sigma Green or Black Belt) as well as candidates with experience in engineering towards production processes.

Skills

The ideal candidate demonstrates a combination of technical, manufacturing, and supplier quality competencies, including:

  • Strong understanding of New Product Introduction (NPI) and product industrialization processes.

  • Proficiency in Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA/PFMEA), Control Plans, and process flow development.

  • Experience with First Article Inspection (FAI), Measurement System Analysis (MSA), Statistical Process Control (SPC), and capability analysis (Cp/Cpk).

  • Working knowledge of root cause analysis and structured problem-solving methodologies such as 8D, A3, DMAIC, 5-Why, and Ishikawa.

  • Ability to assess manufacturing processes and process capability across precision machining, sheet metal fabrication, optics, coatings, mechatronics, electronics, or assembly technologies.

  • Experience with supplier visits, process assessments, and driving corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).

  • Understanding of configuration management, engineering change control, and product lifecycle management processes.

  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, technical specifications, and critical-to-quality (CTQ) requirements.

  • Familiarity with risk management methods and qualification planning for complex components and assemblies.

  • Experience analyzing technical data using statistical methods and quality tools to drive process improvements.

  • Experience with Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), and qualification methodologies.

  • Familiarity with semiconductor, optics, precision mechanics, mechatronics, or other complex high-tech products is a strong plus.

The current base annual salary range for this role is currently:

$109,200-150,150

Pay scales are determined by role, level, location and alignment with market data. Individual pay is determined through interviews and an assessment of several factors that that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to job-related skills, relevant education and experience, certifications, abilities of the candidate and pay relative to other team members.
