The Role

Senior SW Release Manager

The "Internet of Things" (IoT) is expected to grow to $19 trillion over the next 10 years as 50 billion devices are brought online. As a result of our continued success, Aeris’ Connected Device footprint and roadmap is expanding and we are seeking a Senior SW Release Manager. This position will play an important role in our IoT Connectivity team and will be responsible for SW release activities across our whole portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Release Planning & Coordination:
  • Plan, manage, and oversee the release lifecycle, including scheduling, scope, and resource allocation.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams (development, QA, operations, and product management) to ensure timely delivery of releases.
  • Create and maintain release documentation, including release notes and deployment plans.

 

  • Deployment & Change Management:
  • Implement and manage deployment processes for staging, testing, and production environments.
  • Monitor and manage risks and resolve issues that affect release scope, schedule, and quality.
  • Ensure compliance with change management processes and policies.

 

  • Communication & Reporting:
  • Act as the central point of contact for all release-related communications.
  • Provide regular status updates to stakeholders on release readiness, issues, and progress.
  • Generate metrics and reports to assess release effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.

 

  • Automation & Continuous Improvement:
  • Work with teams to implement automation tools and scripts to streamline the release process.
  • Advocate for and implement best practices in continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD).
  • Continuously assess and refine release processes to improve efficiency and reliability.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • years of experience in release management, software development, or a similar role.
  • Solid understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab, Azure DevOps).
  • Familiarity with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef) and version control systems (e.g., Git).
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on collaboration and teamwork.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time-management abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Knowledge of ITIL practices or certification.
  • Knowledge of Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), PI planning processes and execution
  • Understanding of containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools and techniques.
