About the role.
As a Senior Sustainability Packaging Project Manager, you will play a key role in advancing McCain's sustainable packaging agenda across Great Britain and Continental Europe. Working as part of this team, you will lead the development and execution of regional sustainability roadmaps, ensuring alignment with both regulatory requirements and McCain's sustainability commitments.
You will coordinate sustainability initiatives, drive cross-functional collaboration, and oversee the collection and reporting of packaging sustainability data to support informed decision-making and progress tracking. With your expertise in sustainable packaging and evolving regulations, you will help shape the future of our packaging portfolio while contributing to global sustainability programs and governance.
What you'll be doing.
- Monitor packaging sustainability regulations across Continental Europe and Great Britain and assess their impact on our packaging portfolio.
- Define, maintain, and drive the execution of the CE & GB sustainable packaging roadmap, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and McCain's sustainability commitments.
- Coordinate sustainability data collection, validation, and reporting for both CE/GB and global sustainability initiatives.
- Maintain accurate packaging sustainability data within internal systems, including PLM, SAP, and packaging specifications.
- Support the development and implementation of compliance plans to meet packaging sustainability requirements.
- Coordinate and support the execution of sustainable packaging projects across CE & GB.
- Identify opportunities to reduce the environmental impact of packaging through material innovation, design improvements, and circularity initiatives.
- Collaborate with suppliers, universities, and external partners to evaluate and implement sustainable materials and technologies.
- Partner closely with Sustainability, Regulatory, Procurement, Quality, Operations, Marketing, and Packaging teams to advance sustainability objectives.
- Support the development and deployment of sustainable packaging guidelines, tools, training, and specification system capabilities, ensuring sustainability data is effectively integrated into internal processes.
What you'll need to be successful.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Packaging, Materials Science, Sustainability, Environmental Science, or related technical field
- Typically 7+ years of experience in packaging development, preferably with a sustainability focus
- In depth knowledge of sustainable packaging materials, recyclability guidelines, and packaging regulations (PPWR, EPR, national frameworks).
- Highly proficient in computer skills, including Excel, Power BI, and database systems.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex datasets.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, influencing, and relationship-building skills.
- Strong project management abilities with a track record of successful project delivery.
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and independently.
- Fluent in English; additional European languages are a plus.
This role requires occasional travel to McCain's headquarters in Villeneuve d'Ascq (VDA) and Great Britain. Candidates are therefore expected to be based in VDA (France), Rilland or Amsterdam (The Netherlands).
