Due to continued growth in our major study and project development opportunities, we are expanding our leadership capability and are looking for a senior professional who has proven experience successfully leading studies for clients across the resources sector. This role is suited to an individual who combines strong technical credibility with commercial acumen, client leadership, and the ability to guide multidisciplinary teams through feasibility-level decision-making.

About the Role

As a Senior Study Manager, you will be responsible for the endtoend leadership and delivery of studies ranging from scoping and prefeasibility through to feasibility and early execution planning. You will act as the primary interface with clients, ensuring studies are delivered safely, to schedule, within budget, and to the level of technical definition and governance expected by major asset owners and investors.

You will work closely with Sedgman’s discipline leads, executive leadership, and global technical specialists to develop robust, defensible study outcomes that support investment decisions and long-term project success. In parallel, you will contribute to business development activities, including client engagement, proposal development, and strategic pursuit planning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of complex studies for mining and resources clients, ensuring alignment with client governance frameworks and decision-gate requirements
  • Take full accountability for study scope, schedule, cost, risk, and technical integrity
  • Provide strong leadership to large, multidisciplinary study teams across process, mechanical, civil, electrical, and project controls disciplines
  • Act as the primary client interface, building trusted relationships with senior client stakeholders
  • Develop and manage study execution plans, budgets, and reporting frameworks consistent with feasibility-level expectations
  • Identify and manage key technical, commercial, and execution risks, ensuring transparency and defensibility of study outcomes
  • Support business and project development activities, including bids, tenders, and technical inputs for new opportunities
  • Mentor and develop emerging study and project managers within the business, contributing to Sedgman’s long-term capability growth

What We Are Looking For

This role requires demonstrated experience successfully leading large studies for a range of clients, from Junior Miners to Mid-Tier and Tier 1 clients.

You will also bring:

  • A Bachelor of Engineering (Process, Chemical, Metallurgy, Mechanical or similar)
  • 15+ years’ experience in study management, project development, or related engineering leadership roles within the resources sector
  • A proven track record delivering Feasibility Studies and major project development studies for mining companies
  • Strong commercial and contractual awareness, with the ability to manage study budgets, scope changes, and client expectations
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the confidence to operate at senior client and internal leadership levels
  • A clientfocused mindset, supported by a strong professional network and multicommodity experience
  • The ability to work collaboratively with global technical teams and adapt to changing project and client demands

What We Offer

  • The opportunity to lead highprofile studies for clients across a wide range of commodities
  • A senior leadership role with genuine influence over project outcomes and business direction
  • Flexible working arrangements to support work-life balance
  • Strong focus on professional development, career progression, and leadership growth
  • A collaborative, inclusive culture with a strong emphasis on safety, quality, and technical excellence
  • Exposure to Sedgman’s global expertise and major project pipeline

Skills Required

  • Bachelor of Engineering (Process, Chemical, Metallurgy, Mechanical or similar)
  • 15+ years' experience in study management or project development within the resources sector
  • Proven track record delivering Feasibility Studies for mining companies
