Job Description

What You’ll Do

United by our purpose to keep Australia moving by connecting people and places, the NRMA has a great opportunity for you to join our Strategy team on a 12-month parental leave contract. In this pivotal role, you will help shape the future of our businesses and drive growth and transformation across the Group.

As a Senior Strategy Manager, you will work closely with the Head of Strategy (interim) and the GM Strategy & ESG to shape and deliver NRMA’s enterprise and portfolio strategies. You will lead workstreams on strategic projects across group businesses, applying structured problem-solving, analytical rigour and effective stakeholder engagement to deliver high-impact recommendations. This role is ideal for a strategic thinker who thrives in complexity, enjoys switching between big-picture vision and granular detail, and is passionate about embedding sustainability and social impact into corporate strategy.

Your key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Support the development and refresh NRMA’s enterprise, portfolio and BU strategies, working with senior leaders
  • Plan and deliver annual strategy offsites for executive and Board
  • Facilitate the annual planning process and QBRs (where applicable) in partnership with Group Finance, while supporting divisional leaders to refine strategic priorities and develop effective and aligned OKRs
  • Lead strategic projects from conception to execution, to drive growth and improve commercial performance across the NRMA group. Projects may range from developing new membership propositions, to conducting commercial diagnostics and shaping transformation initiatives for BUs, to conducting analysis and making well-reasoned recommendations on major decisions like investments in new businesses or capabilities, to collaborating with cross-functional teams to stand up new business opportunities

We offer a hybrid work arrangement where you can work across our Sydney CBD and Sydney Olympic Park offices as well as some work from home, as required and agreed for the role.

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or relevant postgraduate qualification desirable
  • 5–10+ years in corporate strategy and/or consulting, ideally with exposure to transport, energy, tourism and/or consumer industries
  • Strong analytical and commercial acumen, with experience in key domains like growth strategy, M&A, commercial transformation, digital strategy and transformation, and product innovation
  • Proven ability to lead projects and/or workstreams independently, build relationships quickly and influence stakeholders at all levels
  • A proactive and entrepreneurial approach to developing opportunities; persistence and creativity to find solutions to challenges along the way
  • Enjoys being “hands-on” and fluent in the strategy technical toolkit – Excel modelling, data visualization, sharp Powerpoint storytelling, AI for research/analysis/thought partnership
  • Ability to “porpoise” between the granular analysis and big-picture recommendations, with excellent structured communication across all mediums
  • Collaborative and curious, with a strong growth mindset and ability to absorb and act on feedback

What's in it for you?

At the NRMA we aren’t just about discounts (although you do get these too). We offer benefits to help make work and life just right for you:
