Introduction to role:

This Senior Statistician role provides expertise and support for the statistical components of clinical trial protocols, ensuring they meet project objectives, health authority guidelines and clinical trial methodology standards. The role applies a range of statistical theories and methods, uses multiple software tools, and delivers solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity. Accountabilities

  • Provides technical expertise to staff within AstraZeneca within the area of Biostatistics, helping to shape robust study designs and analyses.

  • Works within established frameworks to deliver a variety of tasks that support projects in meeting their objectives, timelines and quality expectations.

  • Conducts a wide range of often complex statistical analyses, either independently or as part of a team of statisticians working in the same field, to generate clear, reliable evidence.

  • Reviews the development and validation of methods for various statistical components of protocols and ensures they are adequate and compliant with AstraZeneca standards.

  • Maintains thorough documentation of findings and outcomes to meet internal and external requirements, supporting transparency and regulatory submissions.

  • Keeps knowledge of guidelines and new relevant developments up to date by learning from senior management and engaging with the wider statistical community.

  • Analyses information to resolve project requirements, translating scientific questions into appropriate statistical approaches.

  • Reviews working practices and ensures non-compliant processes are advanced promptly so that issues are addressed and standards are upheld.

  • Ensures all work is compliant within Clinical Development, aligning with internal procedures and external regulatory expectations.

Essential skills/experience

  • Master’s Degree in Statistics is required; PhD’s Degree is preferred.

  • Knowledge of survival analysis

  • SAS and R

  • Desirable skills/experience

  • Experience within the pharmaceutical company or CRO
