Job Description

We are seeking a detailed oriented and System Design Engineer in Taipei who will serve as a technical and strategic interface between DRAM suppliers and global Sandisk Systems Design Team to ensure successful adoption, qualification, and lifecycle management of DRAM components in Sandisk SSD products.

In this role, you will provide guidance on product validation to improve DRAM quality, participate in hands-on debug DRAM and system level failure analysis, perform data-driven problem solving analysis in a cross-functional environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Serve as the primary senior technical interface for key DRAM suppliers, providing expert guidance on DRAM products testing, validation, and issue resolution to support its integration into SSD products
  • Monitor and analyze results of Ongoing Reliability Testing on SSD drives.
  • Provide any as needed deep dive hands-on failure analysis with a focus on DRAM and document corrective actions.
  • Collaborate closely with global Sandisk Systems Design Team, and Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) Team to ensure DRAM components perform to the expectations of Sandisk products.
  • Participate in DRAM supplier audits led by SQE team, and maintain strong relationships with suppliers through regular technical and program reviews.  
  • Leveraging automation, scripting, and AI‑assisted tools to improve debug efficiency, analysis quality, and overall engineering productivity.
  • Some traveling to global Sandisk sites and DRAM supplier locations are to be expected.

This role emphasizes technical excellence, strong ownership, cross‑layer thinking, and customer empathy to deliver reliable, enterprise‑grade solutions.

Qualifications

Required: 

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or 12+ years of equivalent practical experience.
  2. Hands‑on experience with DRAM product and quality management, reliability, and failure analysis
  3. Strong Understanding of memory technologies, system architecture, or platform validation
  4. Strong knowledge of DDR5 interface architecture, protocols, training, validation, and debug.
  5. Strong knowledge of DDR controller architecture, operation, configuration, performance tuning, and failure analysis.
  6. Strong understanding of HW–FW–system interactions, with the ability to debug complex issues spanning multiple layers.
  7. Experience with lab debug, including collaborating with cross‑functional teams to drive systematic problem solving and root‑cause analysis
  8. Experience utilizing AI‑assisted engineering tools to accelerate debug, analysis, automation, and documentation, with sound engineering judgment.
  9. Demonstrated ability to lead technical direction and influence decisions without formal people management responsibility.
  10. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce clear, concise technical documentation and customer‑facing explanations.
  11. Fluent bilingual communication in English and Mandarin is a plus, with experience working in global, supplier‑facing environments
