Summary Generated by Built In

MongoDB’s mission is to empower innovators to create, transform, and disrupt industries by unleashing the power of software and data. We enable organizations of all sizes to easily build, scale, and run modern applications by helping them modernize legacy workloads, embrace innovation, and unleash AI. Our industry-leading developer data platform, MongoDB Atlas, is the only globally distributed, multi-cloud database and is available in more than 115 regions across AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure. Atlas allows customers to build anywhere—on the edge, on premises, or across cloud providers. With offices worldwide and over 175,000 developers joining MongoDB every month, it’s no wonder that leading organizations, like Samsung and Toyota, trust MongoDB to build next-generation, AI-powered applications.

MongoDB seeks an exceptional Senior Staff Product Manager to join our Application Modernization R&D Product organization. Your role will be pivotal in shaping our future and contributing to our growth. We are only open to candidates in the United States and Canada at this time, with a preference for those on the West Coast. This position can sit remotely from the US or Canada, or out of one of our US or Canada-based offices with a hybrid or in-office working model.

Many organizations have built up large estates of legacy applications. Lack of scalability and resilience, long development times, operating costs, and inability to run on the cloud are common issues with these applications. Organizations are engaging in large transformational Application Modernization programs to address these issues. MongoDB is recognized as the developer data platform of choice for transactional and AI-powered systems that provide the best scalability, resiliency, and developer experience in the cloud and on-premises. Organizations continuously migrate workloads from these legacy applications to new platforms, often based on microservices, with MongoDB as the data platform.

Such transformations are expensive, time-intensive, and often risky. Generative AI promises to accelerate these transformations in a way never seen before, particularly in code conversion. Within the Application Modernization R&D team, this role will lead the Gen-AI product capabilities that business analysts, developers, and functional users can use to convert their legacy business logic to the target of their choice as a part of the large-scale code transformation projects.

Responsibilities

  • Be the Senior Staff PM responsible for leading the vision, roadmap, and requirements for code conversion feature sets within MongoDB’s Application Modernization products such as Relational Migrator
  • Drive strategic narratives and operational and tactical recommendations with customers and industry thought leaders on Application Modernization in collaboration with MongoDB’s Modernization Factory
  • Regularly evangelize our products and recommendations on application modernization at industry conferences, trade shows, and with key partners and accounts
  • Drive collaboration across Engineering, Customer Support, Marketing, Sales, Professional Services, Sales and the Executive Leadership Team
  • Maintain an accurate and up-to-date roadmap across your ownership areas
  • Deeply understand all aspects of MongoDB - to ensure a business outcome aligned with our broader product, customer, and company priorities
  • Deeply understand the evolving landscape of Gen-AI powered code conversions and serve as an industry liaison to share best practices and learnings between the leading players and MongoDB
  • Define application modernization go-to-market strategies, identify key market/competitive trends and customer opportunities, and plan and manage programs to execute against those strategies by partnering with sales leadership at regional and global levels
  • Drive decision-making around prioritization, solutions, functionality, and pricing

Requirements

  • 10+ years of Product experience working with enterprise-focused application development technologies and customers
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present to large executive audiences and key enterprise customers globally
  • Demonstrated leadership skills to bring together diverse viewpoints and drive a strategic agenda forward; can-do attitude, optimism, humility, creative solutioning, asking complex questions, and willingness to embrace the unknown are all required to succeed
  • Expert-level understanding of enterprise-scale software architectures, application development methodologies, and software deployment and operations
  • Deep experience developing enterprise applications using relational databases, particularly SQL and stored procedures with Oracle, MS SQL Server, Sybase, and PostgreSQL databases
  • Experience using and developing with MongoDB and JSON-based Document models is highly desirable
  • Good understanding of Generative AI concepts, tools, and services. A strong interest in how AI-supported toolchains can improve application development is welcome
  • Strong technical acumen - our Product Managers must be as technical as their engineering counterparts and have in-depth knowledge. Comfortable speaking with authority on any of the technical aspects of the topics in their portfolio, such as Jira, Aha, AWS, GCP, AZURE, LLMs, Agentic Frameworks, and Prompt Engineering
