Senior Staff Accountant

Salary Range: $75,000-85,000
About the role:
DUAL North America, Inc. is seeking a Staff Accountant to join the team. This is a full-time position with an option to work remotely one day per week after a training period. The Staff Accountant will support the Insurance Accounting group and will perform a wide variety of accounting tasks such as daily cash posting, preparing monthly carrier reporting, handling bank reconciliations, managing year-end 1099 preparation, answering billing questions from agents or underwriters, monitoring the aged receivable report, and assisting in additional duties as required.
Essential Functions:
- Enter daily cash payments into system, prepare bank deposit and initiate bank transfers
- Prepare monthly carrier reporting and remitting funds to the carrier
- Answer questions from insureds, agents or underwriters regarding billing, both by email and by phone
- Assist in managing the Accounting general email box and respond to emails as necessary
- Process refunds, commission, chargebacks and returned checks
- Perform monthly bank and account reconciliations, investigate any discrepancies, and resolve issues
- Monitor daily bank account activity, cash levels, and advise management of cash balance and funding needs
- Review aged receivables report and perform necessary follow-up
- Manage year-end 1099 reporting and ensure timely filing
- Assist in carrier audit preparation
- Support other accounting projects and tasks as needed
Job Requirements (education, experience, skills):
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related area or an equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of experience in an accounting department, preferably with an insurance agency/company.
- Ability and willingness to learn new software/systems
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Self-motivated and proactive
- Ability to take initiative and achieve results in a fast-pasted and changing environment
- Strong analytic, problem-solving and time management skills with a proven ability to meet tight deadlines
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel (experience with lookups and pivot tables a must)
- Previous experience with insurance administration systems (particularly IMS) desirable
