The Role
The Speech Performance, Tuning, and Certification team is looking for a Speech Calibration Acoustic Engineer for tuning and calibrating state-of-the-art acoustic solutions for GM's Speech and Handsfree use-cases on infotainment systems.
What You'll Do
- Lead tuning and certification for Handsfree and Speech use-cases
- Design tests to efficiently find opportunities for calibration improvements
- Stay abreast industry trends, technologies, and standard methodologies.
- Identify and document system vulnerabilities and build mitigation action plans; supervise corrective actions
- Coordinate tuning and certification sessions with all the relevant groups
- Perform analysis, resolution, and tracking of defects found on the acoustic solution
- Perform recordings of various scenarios for future algorithmic development
- Interact and facilitate with internal teams and suppliers during all phases of development and integration to refine understanding of requirements and identify innovation opportunities
- Drive GM vehicles for various types of testing, data collection and evaluation processes
Additional Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering or higher; or relevant proven experience
- 2+ years of experience in Speech/Audio Processing, Calibration, Certification or Validation
- 5+ years of Engineering experience
- Experience with leading, coordinating and handling hardware test and validation activities
- Strong ability to analyzing signal flow and diagnosing/troubleshooting audio related issues
- Must have a valid US Driver's license
What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
- Experience in tuning Handsfree and Speech Recognition solutions
- Experience with Handsfree ITU-T P.1110/00 Standards
- Experience with certification activities for Android Auto, CarPlay Siri, Bluetooth Hands-free, Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa, etc.
- Experience with Head-Acoustics lab equipment (i.e. SQuadriga, labCORE, ACQUA, Artificial Heads, etc.)
- Experience with vehicle infotainment systems and designs
- Experience with programming (i.e. Python, C++, Perl, etc.)
- Experience with revision control tools, issue-tracking tools
