AbbVie’s Manufacturing, Engineering & Contracting (ME&C) organization is an exciting and dynamic global function which plays a pivotal role in the manufacturing of medicines for patients around the world, as part of its Operations organization.

ROLE OVERVIEW

We are looking for an experienced, passionate communicator and leader to join a global network of site communicators across our Global Operations Communications community, reporting directly to the Waco Site Head. Based at AbbVie’s innovative Waco site, which counts 800+ employees, the Site Communications & Engagement Lead will own and deliver site-level communications, and lead engagement and CSR strategy for local events and initiatives. The successful candidate will work with local leaders, employee groups, and teams, and partner with Global Operations Communications colleagues and the extended communicator network, to drive best-in-class communications activities that enable AbbVie’s success.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Develop and implement a future-ready communications strategy to enable the success of the site, with support from the Associate Director of ME&C Communications.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver a sustained calendar of communications and engagement activities to support key business plans including colleague events, business performance updates, AbbVie’s local engagement activities etc.
  • Support the Site Head and Leadership Team to deliver clear and impactful stakeholder communications aligned with business strategy.
  • Maintain a best in class level of support to site visitors, expense reporting, administrative and event management.
  • Partner closely with the HR team on employee communications and activities (e.g., engagement surveys, Great Place to Work submissions) to foster an exceptional people experience and a culture of growth and collaboration.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships and partnerships with key internal stakeholders.  Develop and manage strategy for external partnerships related to workforce development and community engagement.
  • Manage and lead the Site Communications team.
  • Provide ad hoc change communications advice to the business.
  • Develop a suite of the most effective communications channels possible for colleagues that facilitate information sharing and two-way conversations.
  • Track and measure the effectiveness of communications and engagement plans.
  • Coach and develop the communications skills of key internal stakeholders.
  • Act as a key Site point of contact for the wider Operations Communications team on topics such as media engagement and crisis management.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • University/higher education degree in a relevant field such as media, communications, marketing, etc.
  • Experience or interest in the pharmaceutical and/or manufacturing space.
  • Experience with content management platforms and design tools, as well as working with external developers and vendors.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Strong communication skills – written and verbal, with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Confident operating in an international context.
  • Ability to think strategically and creatively.
  • Detail-oriented, with a keen eye for design.
  • Excellent web management skills.
  • Ability to manage financial budget and support Senior Leadership team
  • Strong project management and multitasking abilities, managing multiple, often tight deadlines.
