We are seeking a highly experienced Software Test Engineer with deep specialization in payroll calculation engines. This role sits at the intersection of complex financial logic, statutory compliance, and engineering excellence. You will be responsible for validating the accuracy, robustness, and regulatory correctness of payroll calculation services used at scale across multiple jurisdictions.
You will work closely with product management, payroll domain experts, and engineering teams to ensure that payroll calculations—net pay, taxes, social contributions, benefits, retroactive adjustments, and edge cases—are correct, compliant, and resilient.
This is not a generic QA role: strong payroll domain knowledge is essential.
Key ResponsibilitiesPayroll Calculation Testing- Design, implement, and execute test strategies for payroll calculation engines, including:
- Gross-to-net and net-to-gross calculations
- Taxes, social security, pensions, and statutory deductions
- Credits, benefits, allowances, and reimbursements
- Proration, retro-pay, corrections, and off-cycle payroll
- Validate payroll logic across multiple countries and jurisdictions, including regulatory edge cases.
- Ensure correct handling of rounding rules, thresholds, caps, minimums, and cumulative calculations.
- Define comprehensive test scenarios and datasets reflecting real-world payroll complexity.
- Develop and maintain automated tests (API-level and service-level) for payroll engines.
- Perform regression testing to ensure calculation stability across releases and regulatory updates.
- Support performance and volume testing for large payroll populations.
- Partner with payroll domain experts and legal/compliance teams to verify statutory correctness.
- Validate implementation of new or updated payroll regulations.
- Identify high-risk calculation areas and proactively design targeted test coverage.
- Work closely with software engineers to clarify requirements and resolve calculation defects.
- Review payroll specifications, formulas, and business rules for testability and correctness.
- Act as a quality advocate for payroll correctness across the development lifecycle.
- Document test results, defects, and root-cause analyses clearly and precisely.
