We own and develop the MyDyson app, which is at the forefront of Dyson's customer experience. We are proud of what we have built so far; we have more than 3 million active users worldwide and our IoT platform has over 8 million connected machines. We have huge ambition to grow this platform and as we connect more machines from more categories – the challenge is significant.
There are currently 11 scrum teams around the world working on the MyDyson app, each with software engineers specialised in iOS development, Android development or mobile testing/automation, plus a scrum master and product owner. Our teams have the autonomy to manage their own work, each honing their ways of working through regular retrospectives and knowledge sharing. We all share a commitment to creating high-quality code.
About the roleWe are on the lookout for a Senior Software Engineering Manager (Mobile App), Dubai. As the most senior member of the App team in Dubai, you would provide technical and strategic leadership across the app scrum teams located there. Vendor management, collaboration and a desire to improve are second nature to you. In addition, you value good software engineering and agile practices and have a proven track record in leading multiple agile teams delivering to a variety of stakeholders.
Manage the app scrum teams in Dubai and foster a supportive and productive environment that leads to success. Oversee the Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) of key staff within these teams.
Work with the Software Engineering Managers in each of the App scrum teams to ensure there is consistency in our approach and robust support for all the teams to enable them to deliver the commitments they have made.
Set a clear vision for the teams and crafting a strategic growth plan for the overall team to ensure comprehensive development and success across the organization.
Partner your Senior Engineering Manager peers to ensure effective collaboration within the teams and make decisions that prioritize the team's best interests.
Work with the SVP and Head of App to agree and deliver the broader App objectives and goals across the global app organisation.
Identifying new technologies, tools and working practices to help continually improve standards. Familiarity with mobile apps of robot vacuum cleaners is a good to have.
Minimally 10 years of experience in Software/App development with 4 years of people management experience.
Strong mobile engineering background as either an iOS or Android specialist, with the ability to guide and mentor developers across both platforms.
If iOS‑focused: Deep proficiency in Swift, MVVM, RxSwift, SwiftUI, Combine.
If Android‑focused: Strong expertise in Kotlin, with hands‑on experience in Volley, RxJava, and Dagger.
Proven track record leading teams that build and ship large‑scale mobile applications, serving millions of users.
Demonstrated experience working with Agile methodologies, driving delivery and continuous improvement across multidisciplinary teams.
Comfortable managing and collaborating with distributed teams across multiple time zones; able to maintain alignment, communication, and delivery quality.
Strong leadership capabilities, including talent development, technical decision‑making, and ensuring engineering best practices across the mobile domain.
