What is special about this role?
The Genomics Platform team at Helix builds infrastructure, pipelines and web applications to analyze terrabytes of genomic data every week. The analyzed data is used in diagnostics, screening, pharmacogenomics and research applications, parts of which are also built by the Genomics Platform team.
As a Senior Software Engineer - Genomics Platform, you will:
- Design and code software systems for our genomic applications and services.
- Collaborate with product managers, bioinformaticians, scientists, and other engineers.
- Own deliverables from ideation to production operationalization.
- Deploy and operate software with reliability and scale for our users and health systems.
- Establish strong engineering practices that are adopted across the organization.
About you:
- 7+ years development experience in Go, Python, Java, C#, C++, Javascript, Ruby or similar
- Familiarity with distributed systems, databases, data modeling, APIs and web applications
- Affinity for an engineering culture that emphasizes agile, DevOps, and continuous delivery
- Proven track record of successful project deliveries
- Fluency in English, both written and verbal
Pluses:
- BS+ in Computer Science; coursework in genetics or bioinformatics
- Experience working with and deploying front end sites using React
- Proficiency with distributed systems built on cloud infrastructure — AWS or similar
- Experience with AI-powered software development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Roo Code and Cline

- Competitive Compensation: A strong base salary plus an annual performance bonus and Helix equity.
- Expected Helix Base: $101,333 - $131,875 MXN/monthly
- Expected Helix Discretionary Annual Bonus: 5% of your annual salary

- Hybrid & Remote Flexibility:
- Hybrid: Our office is located at WeWork - Varsovia, Mexico City. We gather intentionally in our office space once per week to work on things like pair programming/live collaboration, skillshare sessions, social segments, team lunches, and volunteering opportunities. Juárez, Cuauhtémoc, CDMX.
- Remote (for team members living 80 km or more outside Mexico City): We'll invite you to our CDMX office 3-6 times a year for key training and team meetings. These visits are a great chance to connect in person and strengthen our Helix community. Helix cover travel and accommodation.

We want to make sure your first week is spent learning the foundations. You will be invited to live orientation sessions and spend time with your hiring manager developing your individual roadmap to success. This experience will include sessions that cover your benefits, security & privacy training, an introduction to the OKR framework used at Helix and our communication tools and norms.
First 30 days: You’ll spend time learning the Helix way, completing training and onboarding for your roles, and getting introduced to your team and relevant stakeholders. You’ll also gain a deeper understanding of our customers, our products, the impact we make in the lives of our communities, and how to thrive at Helix through participation in Helix U.
Day 30 - 60: You’ll spend time contributing to projects, deeply familiarizing yourself with team and company processes, and developing a deeper understanding of Helix’s products, services and capabilities.
Day 60 - 90: You’ll build your OKRs with your manager, start to take ownership of projects and initiatives on your team, and begin to demonstrate your impact on the Helix mission.
