Position Overview

PHIL is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead technical development for the Growth team within our Pharmacy Platform. In this role, you will architect scalable backend systems and intelligent, AI-driven workflows required to seamlessly onboard new clients and integrate patient, prescriber, and pharmacy networks.

As a technical leader reporting to the Director of Engineering, you will bridge the gap between high-performance system architecture and client-facing product delivery. You will design configuration-driven playbooks to accelerate client launches, optimize complex rule engines, and implement AI automations to maximize platform quality and engineering velocity.

Responsibilities
  • Accelerate Client Onboarding: Deeply understand PHIL’s architecture to build a repeatable, highly configurable technical playbook for launching new clients and programs efficiently.

  • Design Complex Workflows: Implement and manage sophisticated, rule-based workflows to support pharmacy operations, compliance, and patient engagement while minimizing processing errors.

  • Drive AI Automation: Leverage AI-first development methodologies and build intelligent automations to increase the quality, reliability, and velocity of platform releases.

  • Architect & Scale Backend Systems: Design and maintain highly reliable, low-latency APIs and microservices using AWS native tools (ECS/EKS, Lambda, RDS, DynamoDB).

  • Own System Reliability: Write clean, observable code with robust logging and monitoring to ensure fault tolerance and zero downtime in a highly critical healthcare environment.

  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Collaborate with Product Managers, Data Analysts, and external stakeholders to align technical solutions with business growth objectives.

  • Technical Anchor: Act as a mentor to junior engineers, promoting a culture of strict architectural discipline, rapid innovation, and technical accountability.

  • Technical Escalation & Documentation: Document platform architecture to ensure long-term maintainability, and serve as the engineering tier-escalation point for complex client launch issues.

Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, or equivalent.

  • Experience: 5+ years of software engineering experience building, scaling, and maintaining large distributed systems. Health-tech domain experience (HIPAA compliance) is preferred.

  • Tech Stack: Strong proficiency in Golang (or similar modern backend language) with a proven track record of building robust backend services.

  • Cloud & Data Architecture: Hands-on experience with Cloud services (AWS, GCP, Azure) and relational/NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or DynamoDB).

  • Workflow Expertise: Deep knowledge of workflow engines or applications featuring high levels of configurations and variations across enterprise clients.

  • Modern Engineering Practices: Familiarity with the testing pyramid, CI/CD pipelines, and utilizing AI-first development tools to optimize engineering workflows.

Benefits
  • Exciting ground-floor opportunity with one of the fastest-growing startups in health tech.

  • Fully remote work environment.

  • Competitive compensation, commensurate with experience.

  • Comprehensive benefits package
