Job DescriptionJob Overview
Join SEEK as a Senior Software Engineer where you'll be a fully autonomous professional responsible for improving technical alignment, engineering practices, and platform health. You'll build user-centric, scalable solutions while coaching junior engineers within our cross-functional APAC teams.
The Role
- Build, test, deploy and maintain cloud-first software from development through to production, ensuring systems are reliable, resilient and efficient
- Write clean, well-tested, secure code using modern development practices, patterns and tooling while strengthening engineering discipline across the team
- Drive software development best practices including CI/CD, DevOps culture, and Agile delivery rituals to improve quality and team capability
- Troubleshoot and manage production incidents through to resolution, providing operational support including on-call and after-hours work as per roster
- Mentor and coach Graduate, Associate and Software Engineers, contributing to onboarding and helping team members grow through regular feedback
- Actively contribute to communities of practice at SEEK and collaborate with Product Managers, Data Engineers, UX Designers and various business functions
- Improve understanding of customer needs and build scalable, performant software aligned with SEEK's technology strategy
So, what we are looking for:
- Proven experience creating and maintaining software in two or more modern development languages with strong knowledge of design patterns and data modeling
- Hands-on experience designing, developing and supporting cloud-first applications (AWS), working with APIs, and implementing CI/CD practices
- Demonstrated ability to consistently write well-tested, readable code using secure coding practices, TDD, BDD and Clean Code principles
- Experience providing operational support duties including on-call support, after-hours work, and using logging/monitoring/alerting tools
- Strong mentoring capabilities with experience imparting knowledge and skills to help other engineers grow and develop
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline ideal; experience in online marketplace businesses highly regarded
