This role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact on hundreds of thousands of Xero subscribers and their advisors. You will take ownership of technical initiatives, raise the bar for code quality, and help decompose complex problems, leading to measurable outcomes through cross-functional partnership with Product and Design.
The team & how they connect
Off-the-Charts is a product pod within the Small Business' Reporting and Insights stream. The team is composed of a technical lead, senior engineers, and intermediate engineers, working collaboratively to improve Xero's reporting products. This is an inclusive team culture with flexible working arrangements that values continuous learning, strong code review, and data-informed decision-making.

You will be contributing to Xero's commitment to providing best-in-market reporting that simplifies complex data, empowering customers and advisors to make meaningful, timely, and accurate business decisions.
The team is focused on modernising the reporting platform, which involves migrating components from a hybrid .Net Framework.
While the team operates as full-stack developers, there is upcoming work with a specific front-end focus, utilising React and XUI.
You will be immersed in modern engineering practices, including CI/CD concepts, automated testing, and strong code review culture.

This position is based in New Zealand, open to remote work across the country. The team offers flexible working arrangements.

You will bring deep technical skill in building and operating full-stack SaaS systems.
You demonstrate strong competency in system design for distributed services, including APIs, data modelling, performance, and security.
You possess expert proficiency in C# or JavaScript/TypeScript, coupled with a willingness to master new languages.
Your communication is clear and you can translate complex technical trade-offs for both engineers and non-technical partners.
You champion an ownership mindset with a bias for action, consistently striving for excellence in code quality and operations.
You are comfortable navigating ambiguity, decomposing complex problems, and proactively driving alignment to deliver solutions.
