Caterpillar Inc. seeks Senior Software Engineer at its facility located at 501 SW Jefferson Street, Peoria, IL 61630.
Contribute to design, development, and deployment of Caterpillar's state-of-the-art digital platform. Competent to perform all programming and development assignments without close supervision; normally assigned the more complex aspects of systems work. Work directly on complex application/technical problem identification and resolution, including responding to off-shift and weekend support calls. Work independently on complex systems or infrastructure components that may be used by one or more applications or systems. Drive application development focused around delivering business valuable features. Maintain high standards of software quality within the team by establishing good practices and habits. Identify and encourage areas for growth and improvement within the team. Communicate with end users and internal customers to help direct development, debugging, and testing of application software for accuracy, integrity, interoperability, and completeness. Perform integrated testing and customer acceptance testing of components that requires careful planning and execution to ensure timely, quality results. Design, develop, deploy, and maintain software at scale, with good understanding of concurrency. Batch or stream processing systems such as Apache Spark, Flink, Akka, Storm. Message brokers such as Kafka, RabbitMq, AWS SQS, AWS SNS, Apache ActiveMQ, Kinesis, Azure Event Hub. Work on Datastore such as DynamoDB, Aurora PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Cassandra, Redis, Elasticsearch, MySQL, Oracle. Develop software applications using relational and NoSQL databases. Deploy software using CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Go CD, Azure Dev Ops, Confluence, etc. Deploy and maintain software using public clouds such as AWS or Azure. Work within an Agile framework (ideally Scrum). Responsible for test driven development and behavior driven development.
REQS: This position requires a Master's, degree, or foreign equivalent, in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer and Information Sciences, or a related field plus Three (3) years of experience as a Software Developer, Software Engineer, or related occupation. Additionally, the applicant must have employment experience with: (1) SpringBoot RESTful API; (2) Cloud or serverless frameworks such as AWS, Kinesis, API Gateway, CloudFormation/Terraform, IAM, AWS Lambda, S3, SNS, or SQS; (3) Designing, modifying, developing, writing, and implementing software programming applications for target system using agile methods; (4) Mocking frameworks and unit test frameworks; (5) Writing API proxies on platforms such as Apigee Edge, AWS API Gateway or Azure API Manager; (6) API tools such as Swagger, Postman, and Assertible; (7) Testing tools such as Cucumber and their integration into CI/CD pipelines.
