The Job
As a Senior Engineer on the Discover Team at Own, you will play a critical role in developing innovative solutions that enable our customers to access their cloud data seamlessly. We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated individual who possesses a deep understanding of cloud technologies and data management.

Your Day-to-Day Role
- Design, develop, and implement a new approach for customers to access their cloud data, enhancing usability and efficiency.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand customer needs, requirements, and pain points, and translate them into technical solutions.
- Actively assist and guide less experienced team members to help them grow and advance, fostering a collaborative and supportive team environment.
- Conduct thorough and constructive code reviews, providing valuable feedback to team members to maintain high code quality and promote best practices throughout the development process.
- Build scalable and robust data services to ensure the seamless extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) of cloud data from various platforms.
- Conduct thorough research and stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in cloud technologies and data access methods to continuously improve our offerings.
- Work closely with the product management team to prioritize features and deliver high-quality results within defined timelines.
- Mentor and guide junior team members, providing technical expertise and fostering a culture of innovation and excellence within the team.
- Perform regular code reviews, identify areas for improvement, and implement best practices to maintain a high standard of code quality.
Your Work Experience
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 8+ years of experience in software engineering ;
- Proven experience as a Senior Engineer or similar role with a focus on data services and cloud technologies.
- Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or similar, and experience with data query languages (e.g., SQL).
- In-depth knowledge of cloud platform(s) (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) and their data storage and retrieval mechanisms.
- Expertise in data modeling, data security, and data optimization techniques.
- Familiarity with ETL processes and tools to handle large-scale data migrations.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to approach complex challenges with a systematic and creative mindset.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment while delivering high-quality results.
Important Details
This is a full-time position. The ideal candidate will work out of our Englewood Cliffs, NJ office a minimum of 3 days per week to maximize collaboration and interaction with the business. Travel may be required.
