Fintech at Toast operates one of the most critical portions of the Toast infrastructure: processing payments on behalf of our restaurants and ensuring that restaurants are paid in a timely manner. Payment processing is a key source of Toast’s revenue and also the lifeblood of our customers; we process millions of dollars in transactions per day. We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer for Frontend to join our bill pay team. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of our unified payment processing solution. This platform offers a single, integrated service for bill payment across various channels and supports a configurable approach. It is designed to allow a build-once, available-to-all strategy for both existing and emerging payment methods.
About This Roll* (Responsibilities)
As a Senior Software Engineer specializing in front-end development with React, GraphQL & .NET MVC, you will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality user interfaces for our web applications. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to translate design concepts into functional and engaging user experiences. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of front-end technologies, a keen eye for design, and a commitment to delivering seamless UI/UX solutions.
- Develop and maintain front-end components and features using React.js, GraphQL & .NET MVC
- Collaborate with designers and product managers to translate UI/UX design wireframes into code
- Optimize application performance for maximum speed and scalability
- Implement responsive design principles to ensure compatibility across various devices and browsers
- Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code following best practices and coding standards
- Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers
- Stay up-to-date with emerging front-end technologies and industry trends
- Troubleshoot and debug issues to ensure smooth user experience
- Work closely with back-end developers to integrate front-end components with server-side logic
Do you have the right ingredients*? (Requirements)
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of professional experience in front-end development
- Proficiency in JavaScript, HTML, CSS, React.js, GraphQL
- Strong understanding of responsive design principles and cross-browser compatibility
- Experience with RESTful APIs and asynchronous request handling
- Familiarity with Git version control system
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Special Sauce* (Nonessential Skills/Nice to Haves)
- Experience in an early stage technology startup or interest in startups
- Experience with Redux or other state management libraries
- Experience in .NET MVC frontend applications development
- Knowledge of front-end build tools such as Webpack, Babel, or Gulp
- Familiarity with unit testing frameworks
- Experience with UI/UX design tools like Sketch, Figma, or Adobe XD
- Experience with APIs written in Java/Kotlin
