Who We AreRelativity is a leading legal data intelligence company building technology that helps users organize data, discover the truth, and act on it with confidence. Our AI‑powered, cloud platform, Relativity aiR, transforms massive volumes of complex information into actionable insights for litigation, investigations, regulatory inquiries, data breach responses, and other high‑stakes legal work where accuracy and trust are crucial.
The world’s largest law firms, corporations, and government agencies rely on Relativity’s legal AI software to securely surface and manage the most relevant and impactful information in their matters. Beyond our commercial impact, we’re deeply committed to expanding access to technology for academic institutions through Relativity Academic and supporting pro bono legal work through Justice for Change.
What We Do
At Relativity, engineers don’t just write code; they harness AI tools to architect, optimize, and deliver scalable software faster and shape the future of legal technology. They shape how industries uncover critical insights, ensure compliance, advance access to justice and continuously evolve our platform using the latest technologies, including cloud-native architectures, AI capabilities, and modern developer tooling. Our AI powers privacy programs, identifies confidential information, and detects language indicating misconduct. We’re reimagining how legal professionals uncover truth at scale, and engineering is at the heart of that transformation.
If you’re passionate about solving hard problems, designing for scale, and building tools that matter, while working in a culture that values transparency, innovation, and shared success, Relativity offers the opportunity to make a measurable difference in the marketplace.
Job Description and Requirements
About the Role
Relativity's design system is moving to UX, and we are building its next generation. You will take it from early build to production and keep it running: making the technical calls inside the library, from module format to how it behaves under micro frontends, and building most of them yourself. The framework is chosen, the first components exist, and it ships through our micro frontend. Your work is the packaging, publishing, CI, testing, and hardest component behavior that turn it into a library teams can depend on. You will also maintain the libraries it replaces while teams move off them.
Job Description and Requirements
- Build and maintain how the library is packaged and published: module format, peer dependencies, the publish path to Artifactory and CDN.
- Apply versioning and deprecation practice on every release, and write the migration guides for consuming teams.
- Stand up CI, execute visual regression testing, and wire the token pipeline from design token files through to CSS variables.
- Test and review components built by designers and coding agents before they merge, and maintain the machine-readable guidance that agents leverage.
- Fix accessibility defects in the code and support the accessibility conformance reporting.
- Respond to breaking changes caused by releases and apply fixes through timely patch releases.
- Keep legacy libraries in maintenance mode, only addressing major security issues and critical fixes.
- Author the component behavior that our React framework library doesn’t provide.
- Raise the engineering bar of the design system team through code review and pairing with designers who use coding agents.
Preferred Qualifications
- You have helped maintain a design system that multiple teams depend upon.
- You are fluent with AI coding tools like Claude Code, GitHub Copilot or Cursor.
- You have worked across platform teams.
- You have guided a design system migration that included patching what broke for consuming teams.
- You can explain packaging decisions to a designer and a design decision to a platform engineer.
- You have a strong accessibility practice of creating accessible, keyboard-navigable, responsive experiences and testing them with screen readers and tools like Axe or equivalent.
- You have experience working in legacy codebases.
Minimum Qualifications
- 7+ years in front-end or UX engineering.
- Deep React and TypeScript experience.
- Experience keeping a published package reliable across releases.
- Technical leadership on a library or product area.
- Ability to turn a technical direction into a working plan and execute on it.
- Experience owning build and release tooling for a published package.
- Deep experience with semantic HTML, CSS, and accessible component patterns.
- Clear technical communication, including in code review.
- Based in the United States.
