The Windows Agents, Growth and Innovation team is advancing how people interact with Windows through intelligent, context-aware experiences. Our work spans AI-powered agents, Windows platform capabilities, and new experiences designed to help customers complete tasks efficiently and confidently.
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to lead the design and delivery of significant product capabilities. You will own features from early technical investigation through implementation, validation, deployment, and ongoing operation. You will work across organizational boundaries to solve complex engineering problems and establish sound architectural, security, reliability, and performance practices. You will also mentor other engineers and help the team make effective technical decisions. This role provides an opportunity to influence the direction of emerging Windows experiences and deliver durable improvements across a large product ecosystem.

Responsibilities
- Drive the design, implementation, and evolution of complex systems and features, delivering secure, reliable, and high-quality solutions using responsible AI-assisted engineering practices.
- Partner across engineering, product, design, privacy, security, and reliability teams to translate customer needs and insights into impactful product outcomes.
- Champion engineering excellence through code reviews, design reviews, testing, automation, operational readiness, and responsible AI usage throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
- Lead investigation and resolution of complex production issues, improving observability, resiliency, and operational practices to prevent recurrence.
- Mentor engineers and share technical expertise, helping raise the quality, effectiveness, and impact of the team.
- Drive continuous improvements in developer productivity, engineering systems, and operational processes through automation and AI-powered tooling.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
- OR equivalent experience.
Additional Qualifications
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field.
- Experience in technical engineering with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $160,200 - $261,000 per year.
