We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join ZoomInfo’s collaborative Person Data team. In this role, you will build and improve high-throughput Java backend systems that process fragmented data at massive scale and transform it into accurate, reliable contact profiles.
The Person Data team is responsible for creating the master contact data entity that powers ZoomInfo’s applications. Our systems support approximately 400 million contact profiles and solve complex challenges involving entity resolution, attribute selection, data quality, and contact publication.
This is an opportunity to work on highly impactful data infrastructure, improve the accuracy of ZoomInfo’s contact data, and help solve challenging problems involving large-scale distributed systems.
What You’ll Do
- Build, enhance, and optimize high-throughput backend services and data-processing systems using Java.
- Process and transform large volumes of fragmented, lossy data into accurate contact entities.
- Design and implement scalable solutions for entity resolution, attribute selection, and contact publication.
- Improve employment accuracy by helping identify stale jobs and determine when contacts are no longer associated with a company.
- Help address over-combination issues by improving how data fragments are correctly grouped into individual contact profiles.
- Develop rules, testing frameworks, and scalable approaches to infer data quality without relying on exhaustive manual review.
- Work with systems and services that support approximately 400 million contact profiles.
- Collaborate with data scientists on longer-term initiatives involving data quality, profiling, and entity resolution.
- Partner with Data Tools, Match, Company, and other data engineering teams to deliver cross-functional solutions.
- Contribute to technical strategy, architecture, code quality, performance, and scalability across the Person Data platform.
- Participate in sprint planning and independently select work based on your expertise and areas you want to develop.
- Significant professional experience in software engineering, with strong experience building backend systems.
- Deep expertise in Java and strong software engineering fundamentals.
- Experience designing, building, and scaling high-throughput or distributed systems.
- Experience working with large-scale data-processing pipelines and big data systems.
- Experience with Kafka or similar event-streaming technologies.
- Ability to write efficient, reliable, maintainable, and well-tested code.
- Experience modifying and improving existing production systems, including complex or legacy codebases.
- Strong problem-solving skills and an ability to develop scalable rules, testing frameworks, and data-quality solutions.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience with GCP or GCS.
- Experience with BigQuery.
- Experience with Solr or Elasticsearch.
- Familiarity with entity resolution, match-merge systems, record linkage, or data deduplication.
- Experience working with employment, professional, CRM, or other contact-related data.
- Experience with lossy, incomplete, or fragmented datasets.
- Experience partnering with data science teams to integrate analytical or machine learning initiatives into production workflows.
- Experience in ad tech, CRM, marketing technology, or another high-volume, data-driven environment.
