Job Summary
As part of our growing Technology team, we’re seeking a mid-to-senior level Software Engineer to take ownership of our custom user app platform.
This year, Flywheel developed a custom solution enabling non-technical teammates to leverage AI and make powerful webapps to solve real business use cases. You would take over ownership of this platform and be responsible for maintaining and expanding its capabilities to keep pace with growing excitement and adoption.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and execute feature expansion roadmap
- Own and manage platform architecture (database, portal integration, external data sources)
- Leverage AI (responsibly) to speed up development where it makes sense.
- Give demonstrations and training to other departments
- Evangelize the platform to new and existing users
- Create and explain changelogs to key power users and stakeholders.
- Identify key platform applications and navigate moving them into central software team support.
- Sometimes travel to our remote offices and work with basin teams to teach them about the platform (less than 5% travel).
- Own your own quality assurance; fix your mistakes when you ship them.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field (alternatively, equivalent experience visible in portfolio you can share).
- Familiarity with AI assisted tools and harnesses (Claude, ChatGPT Codex, Pi or variants) and production usage experience.
- Experience giving training and tech evangelizing
(You must be comfortable speaking to non-technical users in different departments) - 3+ Years working with SQL (MySQL, PostgreSQL, or equivalent relational variant. Document DB like Mongo or Dynamo is not sufficient.)
- Experience with Transact-SQL (TSQL)
- Experience with Angular
- Communications, public speaking, client facing role, or similar familiarity with talking about technology.
Skills Required
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience demonstrated through a shareable portfolio
- Familiarity with AI-assisted tools and harnesses such as Claude, ChatGPT Codex, Pi, or variants, including production usage experience
- Experience providing training and evangelizing technology to nontechnical users across departments
- At least 3 years of experience working with SQL and relational databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL
- Experience with Transact-SQL
- Experience with Angular
- Communications, public speaking, client-facing, or similar experience discussing technology
