Your code. Real infrastructure. Global impact.

We're Kwetta, a New Zealand scale-up solving one of the hardest challenges in electrification: how to charge millions of heavy vehicles without overwhelming the power grid.

We're looking for a Senior Software Developer to help build the Kwetta Portal, the platform used to monitor, manage, and control EV charging infrastructure in the field. You'll join as the second dedicated developer on the platform, working alongside the existing developer to extend, harden, and scale a product that's already delivering real value to customers.

If you're looking for software that connects to real-world infrastructure, meaningful technical challenges, and a mission that matters, we'd love to talk.

The Role

The Kwetta Portal is the operational heartbeat of our charging ecosystem. It gives charge point operators visibility and control over charging infrastructure deployed across multiple sites and regions.

As our Senior Software Developer, you'll work across the full lifecycle of the platform. One day you might be building a new customer-facing dashboard, the next improving platform security, designing a new integration, or helping scale the infrastructure behind the product.

You'll work closely with Product, R&D, Service, and Delivery teams to solve real-world problems and turn customer feedback into practical, high-quality software. This is a role for someone who enjoys ownership, likes being close to the product, and wants to see the direct impact of their work.

The platform, team, and product are all evolving. You'll have the opportunity to influence architecture, engineering practices, and the future direction of the Portal as we continue to grow across New Zealand, Australia, and Europe.

What We’re Looking For

We're less concerned with whether you've used every technology in our stack and more interested in your ability to solve problems, learn quickly, and build great software.

You'll likely bring:

  • 5+ years of professional software development experience, including experience operating at a senior level.
  • Strong experience building and maintaining production software using TypeScript and modern full-stack frameworks such as SvelteKit, React, Next.js, Vue, Nuxt, Angular, or similar.
  • Experience building, deploying, and supporting cloud-native applications, ideally including serverless architectures, CI/CD, and modern software engineering practices.
  • Experience working with APIs, real-time data, and a variety of database technologies, ideally including relational, NoSQL, and time-series databases, along with a strong understanding of scalable and maintainable software design.
  • A good eye for UI/UX, strong communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a small, high-trust team where ownership, collaboration, and continuous learning are valued.

What You Get

  • Purpose-driven work. Your code will help power the world's transition to electrification by supporting infrastructure that's already operating across New Zealand and soon to be Australia and Europe.
  • Genuine ownership. Not just in the product, but in the business through employee share options. You'll be the second dedicated developer on the platform, with the opportunity to influence architecture, engineering practices, and the future direction of the product.
  • A smart, humble, and collaborative team. No egos, no layers of unnecessary bureaucracy. Just good people working together to solve difficult problems.
  • Room to learn and grow. We invest in our people and give them the freedom, trust, and support to do their best work.
  • We care about our people. Southern Cross Wellbeing One Health Insurance for you and your direct family.
  • Global impact, local lifestyle. Swap Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, commutes measured in hours for a lifestyle where everything is 5–20 minutes away. We offer up to $4,000 in relocation support plus practical help with housing, schools, childcare, and settling into Hawke’s Bay.
