Our team works on the Safe Deployment Process (SDP) across Microsoft Entra's identity services, the services that sign-in and access depend on every day. We investigate how these services ship change (binaries, configuration, feature flags, and secrets), benchmark the real deployment mechanics against SDP policy, and surface the gaps that let risky changes reach production. We partner with service teams to raise the safety bar, working deep in the deployment stack: release orchestration, staged rollouts, automated health gates, and change telemetry. We turn that understanding into concrete engineering and policy improvements. If you want to see how change actually flows through a large, high-throughput identity platform and help make it measurably safer, this is the team.
Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. As employees we come together with a growth mindset, innovate to empower others, and collaborate to realize our shared goals. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.
Responsibilities
- Drive end-to-end deployment investigations for identity services, tracing how binaries, config, and feature flags reach production and documenting the real mechanics against SDP policy.
- Identify and help close deployment-safety gaps by analyzing staged rollouts, automated health gates, and rollback paths, then designing and landing the engineering fixes that strengthen them.
- Build the data foundation for deployment safety, writing queries and tooling across change, pipeline, and telemetry sources to turn deployment behavior into measurable signal.
- Partner directly with service teams to validate findings, agree on remediations, and shepherd fixes to completion across organizational boundaries.
- Raise the SDP bar broadly by codifying patterns, sharpening the compliance benchmark, and improving the methodology other engineers reuse.
