The Role:
Sauce Labs is seeking a passionate Senior Backend Engineer to add to the Sauce Connect team. Sauce Connect enables enterprise customers to get the most out of Sauce Labs by providing them with a fast, secure connection from their internal development networks to our cloud-based virtual testing environments.
You’ll be a critical player in this agile development team, working closely with the Product Owner, Engineering Manager, and other outstanding Sauce Connect engineers to create great outcomes and drive the future of Sauce Connect.
Responsibilities:
- Work on a cross-functional project team and participate in shaping the technical direction of Sauce Connect to deliver a fast, secure tunneling solution.
- Work on both the server backend and the customer side app that runs on the most common platforms (Linux, Windows, and Mac OS)
- Resolve customer issues related to the operability of Sauce Connect Proxy
- Maintain and continuously improve the scale, performance, and quality of our Trusted Connection Technologies
- Follow recent innovations in the open-source community and have a readiness to adopt the latest technologies
- Make choices for the adoption of new technologies based on your extensive experience
- Proficient with CI/CD tools (e.g. Github, Gitlab, TravisCI etc.)
- Experience with tunneling-related solutions
- Solid understanding of TCP/IP networking, HTTP2, SSL, WebSocket, and other network technologies that power today’s Web
- Golang OR Python programming skills
- Familiarity with container orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes
- Strong sense of ownership and passion for engineering great products with stellar user experiences
- Product development experience
- 5+ years of software development experience, including distributed systems and online services
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 10% of the time to support in-person collaboration with your team or customers, as needed on-site or within the region.
- Experience with asynchronous programming
- Experience building and consuming microservices
- Knowledge and understanding of data structures, algorithms, distributed systems, and design patterns.
- Familiarity with modern monitoring systems (e.g., Prometheus or OpenTelemetry)
- Understanding of common security practices involved in protecting customer data
- Python experience or willingness to learn is appreciated
We are a hybrid workplace that recognizes the importance of flexibility while valuing in-person collaboration and relationship building. As a result, Saucers located near an office location must be able and willing to come into the office. Those hired remotely must be able and willing to travel to an office as required by the specific role.
