You'll contribute to SimKit, ING's 1ES Simulation Toolkit — a Go-based CLI tool that enables developers to run, test, and debug their applications in a production-like ING Scalable Tech environment without requiring deployments. The CLI orchestrates Docker containers to set up the environment.
We are currently looking for an experienced developer for our SimKit Squad. The squad consists of 8 engineers and a PO, mixed located in Amsterdam & Cluj.Your day-to-day- Deliver high quality features on SimKit that enable other teams to deliver their APIs better and faster;
- Support users of SimKit when they have technical questions or experience issues;
- Coach more junior developers in creating better applications.
- 10+ years experience as a Software Engineer;
- Go or similar systems language: Experience with Go, Rust, or C-family languages; more importantly a polyglot mindset and eagerness to learn Go if not already proficient;
- Docker & Docker Compose: Experience building container images and orchestrating local development environments;
- CI/CD: Experience with build pipelines (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps or similar);
- Testing: Strong testing discipline — unit tests, integration tests, and mocking strategies;
- Nice to have: JVM ecosystem knowledge (running/troubleshooting, JVM flags, memory tuning), service mesh concepts, Pact contract testing, or experience with ING's Merak platform. CLI development;
- Familiarity with building developer-facing command-line tools; comfortable in shell environments.
