Meet the Team
The Forward Deployed Software Engineering (FDSE) team develops and operates SHOW Platform, which is Splunk's cloud-native solution for interactive demonstrations, technical workshops, proof-of-concepts, and hands-on lab experiences. It’s used by customers, partners, and internal engineering teams worldwide, and enables thousands of technical engagements every year by playing a critical role in helping customers experience the value of Splunk solutions.
We are a globally distributed engineering team that values ownership, technical excellence, continuous learning, and asynchronous collaboration.
Your Impact
Design, build, and evolve highly scalable cloud-native services that power the SHOW Platform and enable customers, partners, and internal teams to deliver interactive technical experiences.
Lead technical initiatives from architecture through production, making sound engineering decisions that balance scalability, maintainability, reliability, and delivery speed.
Develop resilient distributed systems using modern cloud-native patterns, event-driven architectures, and Infrastructure as Code while continuously improving platform observability, automation, and operational excellence.
Collaborate closely with Product Engineering, Solution Engineering, Customer Experience, and cross-functional Cisco teams to translate business needs into reusable, production-quality software.
Provide technical leadership through architecture discussions, code reviews, mentoring, and engineering best practices, helping raise the technical bar across the team.
Leverage AI-assisted engineering tools - including GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Codex, or similar - to improve engineering productivity while maintaining full ownership of software quality, security, and production readiness. Where appropriate, contribute to AI-powered platform capabilities using modern LLM technologies and application patterns.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience).
6+ years of professional experience designing, developing, and operating production-grade software systems.
Strong experience building cloud-native applications and distributed systems on public cloud platforms (AWS preferred).
Experience designing scalable APIs, asynchronous workflows, and modern software delivery pipelines using CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code.
Experience using AI-assisted software development tools and modern AI APIs as part of the engineering workflow.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience building modern web applications and backend services using technologies such as JavaScript/TypeScript, React, Next.js, Node.js, or comparable frameworks.
Experience with serverless architectures, event-driven systems, and cloud services such as AWS Lambda, DynamoDB, SQS, SNS, OpenSearch, or similar technologies.
Experience designing secure, highly available distributed systems with strong observability and operational excellence.
Experience building AI-enabled applications using LLMs, RAG, vector databases, AI agents, or Model Context Protocol (MCP).
Experience working in customer-facing engineering organizations, Forward Deployed Engineering, or technical consulting environments, with the ability to mentor engineers and collaborate effectively across globally distributed teams.
