CONVO is seeking a Senior Software Engineer - Python to build the shared runtime, orchestration, tool registry, and SDK powering its agentic platform. You’ll develop asynchronous, distributed backend services using Python, FastAPI, and graph-based orchestration, while working with vector/graph databases, MCP-compatible tools, and robust workflow management. You’ll focus on scalable agent execution, reliable tool integration, observability, failure handling, and developer-friendly SDKs that enable teams to build and operate domain agents efficiently.
Technical mission- Design and implement the shared runtime, planner, tool registry and SDK that other teams use to build and operate domain agents.
- Implement asynchronous orchestration and planning services that translate intents into executable agent workflows.
- Build and maintain the tool registry, tool-call contracts, agent SDK and runtime APIs.
- Integrate graph and vector persistence for workflow state, memory and retrieval.
- Implement MCP-compatible interfaces and adapters for internal and external tools.
- Design failure handling, retries, idempotency, timeouts, tracing and deterministic replay where applicable.
- Create developer documentation, reference implementations and automated tests for consuming teams.
- Minimum experience: 6+ years in backend or distributed-systems engineering, including 2+ years with workflow orchestration, LLM applications or agent runtimes.
- Advanced Python, including asyncio/concurrency and production FastAPI services.
- Experience with workflow or agent orchestration, preferably LangGraph or an equivalent graph-based runtime.
- Practical use of graph databases and/or vector databases in production systems.
- Strong API and SDK design, schema versioning and backward-compatibility discipline.
- Understanding of MCP, structured tool calls and secure tool execution.
- Automated testing of distributed, asynchronous and failure-prone workflows.
- Agent memory, multi-agent coordination or planner/executor patterns.
- OpenTelemetry tracing and evaluation telemetry for agent workflows.
- Sandboxing, policy enforcement and tenant-aware runtime design.
- Versioned agent runtime and orchestrator services.
- Tool registry and MCP-compatible contract layer.
- Documented agent SDK with reference agents and integration tests.
- Operational telemetry and failure-management mechanisms.
- Works with all pod engineering teams, the Architecture Office, Agentic Governance and QA/evaluation roles.
- Great compensation package, medical benefit for you and your family, free lunch, annual performance-tied increments & performance recognition awards and a great lean and agile work culture!
- Convo endorses a culture of diversity in all aspects and aims to build a diverse team of amazing individuals!
