Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Software Engineer to join an existing team in the CIS Insurance domain that has experience with building scalable, secure solutions. You will combine software engineering fundamentals with exposure to cloud technologies (AWS) and Generative AI. Reporting into our Engineering Director, you will work on developing modern applications and modernising legacy services into AWS cloud solutions. The successful candidate must have in-depth experience of the software development lifecycle, working in an agile and iterative approach.
Main Responsibilities
- Develop software solutions using modern programming languages including .NET/C# and Python.
- Build and deploy applications in AWS cloud environments, using services such as EC2, Lambda, S3, Glue and Postgres.
- Write clean, maintainable code and follow best practices for testing and CI/CD.
- Collaborating effectively to support and enhance the full product lifecycle.
- Reviewing proposals, evaluating alternatives, providing estimates and making recommendations.
- Serving as an expert on applications and providing technical support
- Revising, updating, refactoring and debugging greenfield and established codebases
- Utilise AI tools where appropriate to accelerate development and delivery
Essential Skills:
- API and Microservices Development in AWS
- Experience in Web and API development using technologies such as .NET/Core, C#, Web API, SOAP XML, Python etc..
- Understanding of RESTful APIs, microservices, and containerization (Docker/Kubernetes).
- DevOps experience of Bitbucket and Jenkins CI/CD pipelines
- Application Lifecycle Management Tools (e.g. GIT, Jira, Confluence)
- GenAI Exposure, with evidence of project delivered using GenAI (Cursor, Copilot and others)
- Experience with NoSQL databases such as DynamoDb, MongoDB etc..
- Good communication skills
Desirable skills:
- Have experience of supporting high volume 24/7 API services
- Experience in cloud migrations
- Windows Server and SQL Server experience
- Postgres experience
- Front-End development technologies (React, HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
- Java development experience on the Linux platform
- Experience of application monitoring using Splunk and Dynatrace
- Use of SOAPUI/POSTMAN/Bruno/JMeter to perform webservice and /performance/load testing
- Experience in migration from .NET Framework 4.5.x to .NET Core
- Cloud Expertise and certification (AWS)
