Senior Software Engineer - Hydrawise (Mexico)

Hunter Industries is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to develop software products and systems, analyze and evaluate existing and proposed systems, and create and modify computer programs, systems, and related procedures to process data.  Hydrawise, by Hunter, manages watering for millions of gardens and landscapes across 130+ countries.  The platform processes 4 billion events every month!  

*This role is performed remotely at a home office and is based in Mexico.

Essential Functions:

• Writes code, tests, debugs, and performs analysis of systems, and handles requests for feature changes. Works with Technical Support team, Hydrawise Product Manager and Firmware team to troubleshoot and fix application issues.
• Works with the Australian Development team on feature enhancements and to coordinate code releases and bug fixes.
• Leads feature development or internal projects, working closely with the Product Manager to ensure adherence to customer requirements.
• Mentors other Software Engineers to ensure good code quality and that industry best practices are followed.
• Proactively monitors and analyzes application metrics to find and fix issues before customers find them.
• Provides functional and operational support on assigned applications, systems and technologies. Interprets technical information for non-technical team members.

Education/Training Required and Preferred:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or a combination of education and relevant work experience.

Experience Required and Preferred:

• Minimum seven years of progressive experience in software development.
• Experience in any or all of the following areas is preferred: HTML, JavaScript, Typescript, React JS, React Native, PHP, Python, IaC, MySQL, MQTT, IOT, Oriented Programming (Proficient with interfaces), Functional Programming.

• Ability to accurately perform troubleshooting of software, hardware, and database issues.
• Proven experience developing or maintaining a significantly sized application.
• Ability to read, understand and modify codebases written by third parties.
• Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact with members across the organization.
• Advanced proficiency in use of computers and network systems.
• Highly technical, hands-on coder with great attention to detail, time management and organizational skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Ability to work under minimal supervision and within timelines.
• Ability to recognize and act upon opportunities to learn and teach skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours to collaborate with a global team.
• Able to lead projects and collaborate with internal customers to ensure adherence to requirements.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally. Must have or be able to obtain a valid passport.
• Strong Knowledge in at least one of the following: Object Oriented Programming, Functional Programming, Database Normalization or Model View Controller architecture.
• Knowledge of the following Amazon Web Services: Aurora RDS, EC2 / Linux, Kubernetes, Serverless is preferred.
• Strong experience with React Native and ReactJS, PHP or AWS is preferred.

The annual salary for this opportunity ranges from MX$1,000,000 - 1,200,000.
