Position Summary: The Senior Software Engineer will play a critical role in designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality software solutions for the organization. This role will work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and other engineers, to deliver innovative and scalable software products that meet the needs of our customers and stakeholders. Expertise and leadership will be vital in guiding the team and ensuring best practices in software development.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: As a Senior Software Engineer, you won’t just write code - you’ll be a key player in driving innovation, shaping the architecture of our systems, and mentoring others. Working on the USPS Core Carrier team, you’ll help design and deliver next-generation products that will power the backbone of EasyPost. If you’re excited about creating robust APIs in Go and collaborating with a forward-thinking team to solve tough engineering challenges, this is the perfect opportunity for you.
o Lead Development: Design, develop, test, and deploy backend services in accordance with established coding standards and best practices with an emphasis on performance, scalability, security, and maintainability.
o Collaborate: Translate complex business requirements into elegant, technical solutions in collaboration with product managers and designers.
o Optimize Code: Implement best practices, conduct code reviews, and champion continuous improvement.
o Problem Solve: Identify and resolve software defects and issues, applying a data-driven approach to develop and deliver reliable and efficient solutions.
o Document and Communicate: Craft and maintain clear and comprehensive technical documentation and share insights with both technical and non-technical team stakeholders.
o Stay Cutting-Edge: Keep up with emerging technologies and methodologies, proposing enhancements to keep us ahead of the curve.
o Test and verify: Design and implement robust unit, integration, and performance tests to ensure software functionality, reliability, and scalability. Develop automated testing frameworks to optimize efficiency and maintain high-quality standards across the development lifecycle.
o Track Changes: Leverage version control systems to efficiently manage and track source code changes, ensuring consistency and integrity. Collaborate seamlessly in a distributed version control environment to support team workflows and streamline development processes.
Minimum Education & Experience Qualifications:
o Bachelor’s Degree8+ years of experience in software engineering (or 6+ years with a master’s degree), with a strong emphasis on backend development and API design.
o Proven experience in software development, including designing, coding, testing, and debugging applications.
o Deep knowledge and hands-on experience with Go is essential. Bonus points for familiarity with Python or other backend languages.
o Solid understanding of distributed systems, microservices, and cloud-native architecture.
o An agile mindset, comfortable working in Agile/Scrum environments, using tools like JIRA and Confluence.
o Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design principles.
o Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, with the ability to design efficient data models.
o Excellent problem-solving skills and a detail-oriented mindset.
o Strong verbal and written communication skills to bridge gaps between technical and business teams.
