 Position overview

We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to lead technical initiatives and deliver exceptional eCommerce experiences on Shopify Plus. You’ll guide other developers, collaborate across teams, and ensure our storefronts are fast, accessible, and scalable. You will play a key role in enhancing customer experience, improving site performance, and implementing scalable solutions that support our business growth and customer engagement strategies.

What you'll do
  • Lead the development and maintenance of Shopify Plus storefronts and related systems.
  • Drive technical initiatives, coordinating the work of other developers, and collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure alignment and quality delivery.
  • Build and maintain modern, accessible front-end experiences that meet WCAG and industry accessibility standards.
  • Integrate third-party systems such as payment gateways, ERP, CRM, analytics tools, and shipping providers.
  • Collaborate with product managers, UX/UI designers, and marketers to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
  • Ensure optimal performance, speed, and scalability of the Shopify store.
  • Implement A/B testing, personalization, and conversion optimization strategies to enhance the customer journey.
  • Monitor and resolve production issues; work to improve incident management and deployment processes.
  • Stay updated with Shopify platform updates, APIs, and eCommerce trends to drive innovation and technical excellence.
Who you are
  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with a strong focus on eCommerce.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with Shopify, including Shopify Plus.
  • Experience leading technical projects or small development teams through planning, execution, and delivery.
  • Experience with headless commerce architectures (e.g., Hydrogen, Next.js, or custom storefronts).
  • Strong expertise in Liquid and Shopify theme development.
  • Skilled in modern front-end frameworks (e.g., React, Vue) and responsive, accessible design practices.
  • Experience with backend technologies such as Node.js or Python.
  • Experience with Azure or other cloud platforms.
  • Proficiency with Git, branching strategies, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities, including mentoring peers and reviewing code.
  • Knowledge of SEO optimization techniques for eCommerce.
  • Experience integrating with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP) or other enterprise tools.

The base pay range for this position is for a successful candidate within the state listed. The successful candidate’s actual pay will be based on multiple factors such as work location, job-related knowledge, skills, qualifications, and experience.

Salary Range
$150,000$170,000 USD
