We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer with strong CICS application development experience to support and enhance mission critical healthcare systems. The role focuses on high volume, high availability applications supporting claims processing, eligibility, enrollment, benefits, and provider data, while also contributing to modernization and AI enabled initiatives.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, test, and maintain CICS online applications supporting healthcare business functions such as claims adjudication, member eligibility, enrollment, and provider management
- Develop and enhance programs using COBOL, CICS, DB2, VSAM, and JCL on IBM z/OS
- Work extensively with CICS transactions, pseudo conversational programs, TSQs, TDQs, and transaction recovery mechanisms
- Design microservices and/or z/OS connect or Bundle API's
- Perform impact analysis for regulatory or business changes (e.g., benefit rules, plan changes)
- Ensure applications meet performance, scalability, and availability SLAs for high transaction healthcare systems
- Participate in production support, incident resolution, root cause analysis, and preventive maintenance
- Collaborate with business analysts, testing teams, and distributed system teams supporting healthcare platforms
- Mentor junior developers and drive adherence to coding standards and healthcare IT best practices

Required Qualifications:
- Solid hands on experience in COBOL, CICS, JCL, DB2, VSAM
- Experience working with high volume transactional systems
- Experience with tools such as Endevor, File Aid, XPEDITER, SPUFI,BMC,NDM etc.
- Experience in healthcare payer or provider systems, including:
- Claims processing
- Member enrollment & eligibility
- Provider data management
- Benefits configuration
- Deep understanding of CICS architecture, transaction control, and error handling
- Familiarity with batch-online integration in healthcare workflows
- Understanding of SDLC, Agile methodology, release management, incident management, and on call support
- Understanding of performance tuning / Optimization methods
- Awareness of HIPAA regulations, data privacy, and security requirements
- Proven ability to work with regulated, audit driven healthcare environments
Preferred Qualifications:
- Healthcare Domain Experience
- Experience as an AI Builder on Low Code platforms for automation or workflow enablement
- Exposure to Java / Spring Boot, especially for mainframe to distributed integration or APIs
- Understanding of GenAI use cases in healthcare IT (code modernization, defect analysis, documentation, testing acceleration)
- Knowledge of mainframe modernization initiatives and hybrid architectures
- Familiarity with DevOps concepts and CI/CD for enterprise healthcare systems
Soft Skills
- Solid analytical and problem solving capabilities
- Ability to communicate effectively with technical and business stakeholders
- Experience working in onshore offshore healthcare delivery models
- Leadership mindset with mentoring ability
