Senior Software Engineer - Click out to Revenue (m|w|d)

As a Senior Software Engineer in our Clickout-to-Revenue team, you’ll work on one of idealo’s most business-critical domains: the systems and processes that turn millions of clickouts into reliable merchant billing and revenue.

This is a role with significant technical ownership. You’ll shape the architecture and evolution of our monetization landscape, make technical decisions across services and integrations, and help solve complex challenges at the intersection of engineering, finance, and commercial processes.

Beyond building and operating software, we’re looking for someone who can bring technical direction, challenge existing solutions, and raise the engineering bar within the team.

• You take technical ownership of business-critical services and applications that connect clickouts, merchant billing, and revenue processes across idealo.

• You shape the architecture and technical evolution of this domain, balancing scalability, reliability, maintainability, and business needs.

• You design, build, and operate applications in AWS and take end-to-end responsibility following our “You Build It, You Own It” approach – including architecture, infrastructure, development, testing, security, deployment, monitoring, and on-call.

• You drive technical improvements and help identify where existing systems, integrations, and processes need to evolve.

• You design and evolve integrations across our monetization landscape, including Odoo, internal master-data systems, Salesforce, and SAP.

• You act as a senior technical sparring partner within the team, contributing to architectural discussions, challenging solutions, and helping others make sound engineering decisions.

• You work closely with Accounting, Sales, Account Management, and other engineering teams to translate complex business requirements into sustainable technical solutions.

• You contribute to strong engineering practices through pragmatic technical standards, code reviews, pair programming, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement.

Must-haves

• You have extensive experience designing and building complex backend or web applications with Kotlin and/or Java and have taken technical ownership beyond individual features.

• You have a strong track record of shaping architecture and driving technical decisions in complex production environments.

• You have deep experience with AWS and Infrastructure as Code (e.g. Terraform) and are comfortable owning systems throughout their full lifecycle.

• You have strong knowledge of relational databases and distributed, event-driven systems, including event messaging, streaming, and asynchronous communication.

• You can navigate complex technical and business dependencies, identify pragmatic solutions, and communicate technical trade-offs clearly to both engineering and non-technical stakeholders.

• You raise the engineering bar around you through technical guidance, constructive challenge, knowledge sharing, code reviews, and collaborative problem-solving.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with ERP systems or accounting- and finance-related domains.

• Experience building AWS Lambda functions for data-processing use cases using Python or TypeScript.

• German language skills.
