Overview:
Squadformers is looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer to lead the work on our latest Chromium-based Android browser. This is a high-profile and hands-on position, for an incredibly meaningful mission. You will lead the work to help us develop our new innovative browser from the ground up. The specific product and approach is still in stealth but very innovative and meaningful — more information can be shared in a conversation.

Who You Are:

  • Proven experience in software development.
  • Proficient in Java and C++.
  • Knowledgable in Kotlin and Javascript
  • Strong understanding of web technologies and browser internals.
  • Expertise in Chromium development is a must; experience in developing browser extensions is a plus.

What you'll be doing:

  • Lead the development of our Chromium-based browser for Android devices, and later for desktop
  • Collaborate with the team to design and implement new features for an amazing, fast and safe browsing experience
  • Maintain clean and organized code
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and methodologies to drive innovation
  • Contribute actively to evolving team methodologies
  • Drive new browser features with a focus on reliability, cross-platform compatibility, performance, and security
  • Deliver well-tested code with high confidence (unit tests, browser tests)
What we are looking for:
  • 3+ years of experience with browser development.
  • Familiarity with web technologies and how the web works
  • Strong C++ development skills
  • Proficiency in using Git
  • Experience with Chromium upstream contributions
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Innate passion to be excellent, be curious and to share your passion with your team as you work together to WOW our clients!
  • You are an excellent communicator, both written and verbal
  • Passionate about our values and love to grow
  • Self-starter, team player and independent — you can manage yourself efficiently
  • Able and willing to work 40hrs/week

Bonus Points:

  • Experience with building mobile apps.
  • Working experience with writing Rust.
  • Experience using browser performance analyzer tools and optimizing performance and footprint for mobile applications.

  • A degree is not required
  • North American time zones are required
  • The salary range for this position is $150-215k depending on experience
