Senior Software Engineer – Flights

As a Senior Engineer in the Flights group, you will play a key role in designing and delivering the next-generation flight platform, the company’s flagship product that drives the majority of our global business. Operating at high scale, you’ll solve challenging problems and collaborate with engineers, product managers, and designers to deliver impactful solutions for enterprises worldwide.
What You’ll Do- Design and Build Scalable Systems: Contribute to the design and implementation of high-performance architectures and core services that support Navan’s global flight platform.
- Deliver Impactful Features: Take ownership of important product features and services, ensuring they provide real value for our global customers.
- Contribute Technical Expertise: Write high-quality, production-ready code and participate in design reviews, code reviews, and system discussions.
- Ensure Quality and Reliability: Help maintain operational excellence through testing, monitoring, and timely issue resolution.
- Collaborate with Teammates: Work closely with engineers and cross-functional partners to align on technical solutions and deliver cohesive outcomes.
- 6+ years of experience building and scaling complex systems in fast-paced or large-scale environments (open to exceptional candidates with less experience)
- Strong proficiency in Java and Spring Boot, including experience with performance optimization
- Solid background in distributed systems and API design, with hands-on experience in AWS or similar cloud platforms
- Demonstrated ability to deliver production-quality software with robust testing, monitoring, and documentation
- Ability to work effectively with teammates across engineering and product
- Familiarity with evaluating and adopting new technologies
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience
The posted pay range represents the anticipated low and high end of the compensation for this position and is subject to change based on business need. To determine a successful candidate’s starting pay, we carefully consider a variety of factors, including primary work location, an evaluation of the candidate’s skills and experience, market demands, and internal parity.
For roles with on-target-earnings (OTE), the pay range includes both base salary and target incentive compensation. Target incentive compensation for some roles may include a ramping draw period. Compensation is higher for those who exceed targets. Candidates may receive more information from the recruiter.
