Honeycomb is the observability platform that enables engineering teams to find and solve problems they couldn't before. It enables engineers to answer novel questions about their ever-evolving cloud applications, so they can deploy confidently, resolve incidents faster and focus on high-value work that drives innovation. You’ll be joining a new internally focused platform engineering team focused on making frontend development more effective across the company. This team owns the development of our design system, choosing or building frontend tools, and building tools as needed to allow everyone to move faster and with more accessibility. What You’ll Do In the Role:
- Build and evolve our design system. You will write code across the full application stack, primarily in Typescript and React. While most of your time will be focused on delivering software, you will be trusted to model best practices, lead team-level projects, and weigh in on larger technical decisions.
- Prioritize accessibility. We want every external developer to be empowered to use Honeycomb to make their systems run better, and that means continually striving to make Honeycomb more accessible by building accessibility as a first class feature in our systems.
- Pair program with other engineers. Our team is fully distributed across multiple time zones, and we regularly use pair programming to build our solutions. Pairing is not required for every change but is a tool we use to help reduce knowledge silos and encourage strong communication.
- Educate compassionately. From onboarding to their first pull request to shipping to production, App Enablement helps newbees and tenured bees alike to learn more about how to ship robust and accessible frontends at a rapid development velocity.
What You’ll Bring:
- Deep experience in frontend performance optimization. We’re always looking to improve Honeycomb’s performance. You’ll help ensure we’re staying as lean and fast as possible to deliver the best experience.
- A strong sense of teamwork. You have worked on teams requiring collaboration with other engineers and cross-functional partners, such as maybe product managers and designers. You look for opportunities to reduce knowledge silos and level up the team members around you. You enjoy pair programming and helping others when they are stuck.
- Growth mindset. App Enablement is a new and growing team that’s still experimenting with different approaches to meet our goals. You’re able to distill feedback about the development process, get curious about it, and propose ideas on how to improve as a team.
- Experience evaluating feedback loops for the Software Development Lifecycle. This team is first and foremost for other developers. You have experience in running programs and building tools to keep the feedback loop fast and high signal for the fastest development as possible.

But in general, here is the flow:
1. Recruiter Screen
2. Hiring Manager Screen
3. Technical Take Home exercise, as well as a 30 minute call with the team to talk through your work and decision-making process. And it's not about how far you get - it's more about how you think about and approach problems.
4. Virtual Onsite, where you'll meet more of the team, including members of the product triad.
