Position Summary

As a Senior Software Development Engineer, you will responsible for leading the design, development, and implementation of innovative digital solutions that power exceptional member experiences. As a member of the Development Team, you will leverage advanced technical expertise to architect and build cloud-native, microservices-based applications with a strong emphasis on event-driven architecture, modern technology stacks, and emerging AI technologies.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams across Digital, Data and Analytics, and Platform Engineering to drive innovation and shape the overall technical direction of our digital engineering initiatives.

  • Contribute to technical direction, mentoring peers, and partnering with architects and product teams to translate business requirements into scalable, maintainable solutions.

  • Be a hands-on Engineer, who takes ownership of the full software lifecycle from design through deployment and operations, and brings a collaborative, problem-solving mindset to every challenge.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience, with a focus on enterprise-level digital solutions.

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with Node.js, JavaScript, and TypeScript, including strong proficiency in asynchronous programming and server-side application development.

  • 2+ years of experience building and deploying cloud-based solutions, with preference for AWS.

  • Experience with event-driven services and architectures, including message brokers and event streaming platforms such as Apache Kafka.

  • Familiarity with emerging AI technologies and their practical applications in software development.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), particularly deploying and managing microservices on AWS.

  • Experience with serverless architectures and cloud-native design patterns.

  • Familiarity with open-source frameworks and modern development tooling.

  • Proven ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams, fostering a collaborative environment and contributing to team success.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify root causes and implement effective solutions under time pressure.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree from accredited university or equivalent work experience (High School Diploma/GED + 4 years relevant experience).

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$92,700.00 - $185,400.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.  The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.  This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
