We are seeking passionate and driven Senior Software Automation Engineers who are eager to innovate and help build industry-leading data management products. As part of Cohesity’s Data Protect Product Engineering team, you will contribute to our product portfolio by creating test cases and automating features, tools, and scripts that enhance the customer experience—from ease of sale to seamless deployment and maintenance.
This role goes beyond writing code. We're looking for engineers who can dive into complex systems, diagnose and resolve issues efficiently, and deliver high-quality solutions with strong attention to scalability and performance. You will collaborate closely with Product Managers, Customer Support, System Engineers, and directly with customers to ensure our solutions meet real-world needs and expectations.
HOW YOU’LL SPEND YOUR TIME HERE:
This role involves leading key technical initiatives and collaborating across teams to drive product development and support. The position plays a vital role within the organization by bridging engineering execution with customer success and relies heavily on cross-functional collaboration with product management, support, QA, design, and field teams.
Ownership of Feature Development:
Take ownership of end-to-end test and implementation for complete automation suits for both on-premises and cloud platforms based on product requirements and customer feedback.
Engage in technical discussions with Engineers, Architects, Product Managers, and Designers to align on design/scope.
Feature Delivery:
Ensures timely delivery of committed features. Clearly communicate deliverables, timelines, and follow through on commitments.
Lead automation and testing of patches and hotfixes.
Proactively assess technical risks and make data-informed decisions to mitigate them.
Develop tools to assist support engineers in diagnosing and resolving issues more efficiently, reducing time-to-resolution for customer-reported problems.
Technical Leadership:
Mentor team members in writing clean, testable, and maintainable code and guide them during all phases of design, development and testing.
Issue Diagnosis & Resolution:
Conduct deep root cause analysis for product defects and performance issues. Implement and validate fixes with a focus on quality and speed.
WE’D LOVE TO TALK TO YOU IF YOU HAVE MANY OF THE FOLLOWING
Typically requires a minimum of 8-12 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 6 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 3 years experience; or equivalent experience.
Strong coding, analytical, debugging and troubleshooting skills in Python/Go and Bash scripting… powershell is good to have
Comfortable in using tools - JIRA, Github, Test framework in Python, GoLang
Knowledge of Microservices, Public Cloud (AWS, GCP, Azure, OCI etc.) and SaaS architecture. AI/ML is definitely a plus
Handson experience with Hypervisors like ESXi and HyperV… KVM and cloud is good to have
Good knowledge of Linux operating Systems and respective tools.. Windows would be a plus
Validated experience in some of the following areas: Data Protection, Filesystem, NAS, Cloud, SaaS, and Platform.
Problem-solver who can dive deep to solve complex problems/issues.
Bring good testing methodologies and passion for building quality products
Great communication skills, influences others to adopt inclusive, innovative, and customer-centric behaviours.
Knowledge of agile/scrum methodologies
Ability to articulate design and implementation choices, communicates complex concepts to diverse audiences; simplifies complexity.
Ability to make decisions based on data and influence stakeholders
Demonstrated experience leveraging AI tools to streamline workflows, enhance productivity, and support high-quality decision-making
