Duties & Responsibilities:
Viavi Solutions is looking for a talented Senior C++ Software Developer to join our innovative Fibre team. This is a unique opportunity to work on advanced embedded systems and telecommunications technologies that support critical global infrastructure. What you'll do:
Essentially you will plan, design, develop, and test software systems or applications for software enhancements and new products, including cloud-based or internet.
Design & Development:
Craft high-quality, maintainable C++ (C++17+) code for embedded systems, protocol layers, and platform services using modern best practices.Debugging & Troubleshooting:
Investigate and resolve complex issues across software and hardware boundaries using tools such as GDB, system logs, and hardware analyzers.Code Reviews & Collaboration:
Actively contribute to peer reviews, share knowledge, and continuously improve team standards.System Integration:
Work closely with hardware teams to integrate software with FPGAs, custom boards, and peripheral devices.Testing & Validation:
Develop unit tests, perform integration testing, and validate solutions on real hardware.Cross-Platform Development:
Build and optimize applications across ARM and x86 platforms, ensuring high performance and compatibility.
Pre-Requisites / Skills / Experience Requirements:

- Strong expertise in C++ (C++17 or newer)
- Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Design (OOD/OOP/OOAD)
- Experience with Embedded Linux environments
- Familiarity with version control systems such as Git or Subversion
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams
- Fluent in English and Romanian
It would be desirable if you had some of the skills below:
- Experience with Yocto
- Familiarity with CMake
- Knowledge of Qt/QML frameworks
- Networking experience (TCP/IP, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth)
- Understanding of MVC architecture and design patterns
- Experience using lab measurement tools
- Familiarity with XML, JSON, or QML
- Hands on experience with AI tools
