This is a senior-level role with real technical leadership scope, focused on building the next generation of AI-powered features in our product. You'll own complex AI features end-to-end - from prompt design and agent architecture through production deployment and evaluation. You'll contribute to architectural decisions, influence how we build with generative AI, and be a force multiplier for the engineers around you. You ship high-quality software and you make the team better at doing the same.
A note on the AI landscape: This space is moving faster than any technology shift in our careers. Models, tools, frameworks, and best practices change month to month. We need someone who treats that as an opportunity rather than a frustration - who can pivot when a better approach emerges and who knows the difference between a fad and a real step-change.
What You'll DoDesign, develop, and deploy of generative AI product features – from initial prototype through scaled production use.
Build and ship agentic workflows: multi-step, tool-using systems that reliably accomplish real customer outcomes.
Design and maintain rigorous evaluation systems for AI features. Evals are non-negotiable here – if we can't measure it, we can't ship it with confidence.
Collaborate with product managers, designers, and data science to translate ambiguous problems into durable AI solutions, including knowing when not to use AI.
Write clean, maintainable code across both Python (AI/ML tooling, agent frameworks) and our C# application stack, and raise the quality bar across the codebase through code reviews.
Mentor and coach engineers across the org on AI engineering practices – prompt design, eval discipline, cost and latency tradeoffs, and responsible deployment.
Drive root cause analysis on complex issues, including the messy ones unique to AI systems: hallucinations, prompt regressions, eval drift, tool-call failures.
Contribute to strategic architecture decisions at the team and platform level.
5+ years of professional software development experience.
Hands-on experience developing generative AI product features in production – not just prototypes or demos.
Experience building and evaluating agentic workflows. You understand why evals matter, what makes a good one, and how to build eval suites that catch real regressions.
Flexibility. The AI landscape changes weekly. You're comfortable letting go of yesterday's approach when a better one emerges, and you've done it before.
Strong command of object-oriented programming and software design principles.
Proficiency in Python and at least one statically-typed language (C#, Java, or similar). At Quantum Workplace, our application stack is C#-heavy, so comfort moving between Python and C# is a strong fit.
Hands-on experience with SQL databases and modern web technologies.
A track record of designing and shipping scalable, high-performance systems.
Strong communication skills – you can explain a technical decision (or an AI tradeoff) clearly to an engineer or product manager.
TypeScript and React experience.
Hands-on experience with Azure (or another major cloud provider – AWS, GCP).
Docker and container-based development workflows.
Familiarity with RAG architectures, vector databases, and retrieval evaluation.
Background in SaaS or B2B product companies.
A track record of contributing to architectural decisions at the system or team level.
