As a Software Build Manager, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the build, release, and deployment processes of software products developed within a SAFE Scrum environment. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including developers, testers, DevOps engineers, and product owners to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality software releases.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage and optimize the build process for software development projects following the SAFE methodology
  • Configure and maintain build automation tools, such GitLab CI/CD, to ensure efficient and reliable builds
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, product owners, and program manager, to integrate build processes into the overall workflow
  • Collaborate with DevOps teams to optimize deployment pipelines and infrastructure configurations
  • Define and implement build strategies, including continuous integration, daily/nightly builds, and release builds, aligned with releases and program increments
  • Monitor and troubleshoot build failures, identify root causes, and work with development teams to resolve issues promptly
  • Ensure the integrity and security of the build environment, including managing build artifacts, certificates, and access controls
  • Optimize build performance and scalability to support the Agile development process, considering factors such as build speed, resource utilization, and parallel execution
  • Implement and maintain build metrics and dashboards to provide visibility into build health, quality, and performance
  • Stay up to date with the latest build tools, technologies, and best practices and propose improvements to the build process

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
  • Proven experience in software build and release management roles, preferably within an Agile or SAFE Scrum environment
  • Strong proficiency in build automation tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD), version control systems (e.g., Git), and deployment automation technologies
  • Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Shell, Python) and build configuration languages (e.g., Groovy, YAML)
  • Understanding of software packaging, dependency management, and artifact repositories
  • Experience with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes is a plus
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex build issues
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, Agile development environment

DECISION MAKING & SUPERVISION:

  • This role has no direct reports, but will work and interact with multi-disciplinary engineering teams.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • This role offers hybrid work environment.
  • Working conditions are generally comfortable typical of an office environment.
  • international travel is required

  • The successful candidate must be able to work in Canada and obtain clearance under the Canadian Controlled Goods program (CGP).
