Leads Telesat’s end-to-end ESCP-P defence communications program and serves as the primary customer interface to Canada’s Department of National Defence. Oversees customer relationships, technical integration, schedule, cost, risk, quality, governance, contractual outcomes, security, and operational service across LEO and MEO satellite capabilities. Coordinates matrixed engineering, commercial, legal, finance, supply chain, security, and operations teams, while representing Telesat in joint program governance and working groups.

Coordinates PLM implementation activities, schedules, governance, action and risk tracking, stakeholder meetings, vendor commitments, reporting, dashboards, documentation, change management, training, and adoption. The role supports cross-functional engineering, manufacturing, operations, IT, quality, supply chain, and business teams while maintaining accurate project information and facilitating executive communications.

Develop, edit, maintain, and govern technical documentation for satellite user terminal engineering products. Translate complex engineering information into clear requirements, design, verification, installation, and service documents. Responsibilities include troubleshooting network faults, maintaining RF, baseband, networking, power, and antenna systems, investigating satellite interference, documenting incidents, supporting service implementations, and coordinating with customers and contractors. The role requires shift work, on-call participation, occasional travel, independent judgment, and eligibility for Canadian Controlled Goods and U.S. technical-data access approvals.

Leads the Satellite Operations Engineering team responsible for the health, safety, positioning, and operational performance of Telesat’s GEO satellite fleet. Manages personnel, duty assignments, procedures, training, anomaly response, maneuver planning, spacecraft resource optimization, and operational improvements. Ensures 24/7 fleet availability, supports customer and business requirements, oversees technical studies, and coordinates internal and external engineering expertise.

Lead cybersecurity architecture for satellite, ground, network, and cloud systems. Integrate security requirements across the product lifecycle, conduct threat modeling and risk assessments, guide secure-by-design decisions, evaluate vulnerabilities, and oversee security verification. Support DevSecOps tooling, monitoring, incident response, recovery strategies, and cybersecurity engagement with customers, partners, and vendors.

Design, cost, implement and support satellite (GEO and LEO) and terrestrial communications solutions. Perform link budgets, select RF components, integrate satellite networks with enterprise WANs, configure network devices, provide third-level support, produce technical specifications, manage vendors, and perform field implementation, testing and training.

The Network Technologist will lead the implementation and management of LEO services, optimizing systems for customer support and operational efficiency while overseeing problem resolution and team collaboration.

Monitor and control Telesat Lightspeed LEO satellites from the Satellite Operations Centre: execute scheduled and unscheduled activities, analyze telemetry, upload and monitor orbit/attitude maneuvers, respond to anomalies, report deficiencies, maintain operational software tools, and coordinate with flight operations engineers and engineering teams.

Lead system-level verification and validation for a LEO SATCOM system. Develop verification matrices, test plans, test cases and execute hands-on RF and data-path testing in the LEO lab. Configure RF test equipment, coordinate OTA and system acceptance activities, collaborate with vendors and cross-functional teams, and ensure product meets technical, performance and business requirements.
