Job Description
What you get to do in this role:
  • The Senior Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) will be responsible for managing and resolving the most challenging issues for the ServiceNow SRE team focusing on instance performance, reliability, and availability.
  • This is a technical role and requires strong troubleshooting skills as well as strong technical skills.
  • This is a nightshift role (4 days a week) and must be based anywhere within the Republic of Ireland.

Qualifications
  • Degree in computer science/engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum of 4 years of IT operations experience
  • Experience in leveraging AI into work processes, decision-making, or problem-solving
  • Solid Knowledge of ITIL driven IT Operations - Incident, Problem & Change Management
  • Experience working well in a team environment while also being able to work productively while unsupervised
  • Solid experience of troubleshooting in a highly demanding environment
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot difficult technical issues
  • Strong personal commitment to quality and customer service
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate solutions to technical problems
  • Excellent time management skills

Required Technical Qualifications
  • Extensive knowledge of Unix/Linux operating system, including memory management, process management, disk/IO troubleshooting, and network troubleshooting
  • Solid understanding of Networking skills, including TCP, IP addressing, routing, HTTP, HTTPS/TLS/SSL, DNS, DHCP, FTP/SFTP
  • Understanding of relational databases (e.g., MySQL, Postgres)
  • Knowledge of one (or more) scripting languages: JavaScript, Python, Unix Shell
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and containerization.

Preferred Qualifications (Good to Have)
  • Familiarity with Configuration Management tools like Ansible and Puppet
  • knowledge of monitoring and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, etc)
  • Working knowledge of the components in a web applications stack
  • Experience diagnosing performance degradation (e.g. explain plans, database tuning, replication related issues)
  • Familiarity with monitoring large and scalable systems, applications, and networks
  • Experience with Splunk, Gitlab
  • Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and Git-based workflows.
  • Certification in cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure).
